All I want to know is how haven’t people combined the VAR chant with the Icelandic clap... slow build up to a disappointing/ecstatic crescendo!

If you’re going to chant, make it look good!

Do you think the players should reenact a goal after its scored too? Because at the game you don't get thr benefit of a replay.

Sat at home you get some benefits, like replays, latest news on injuries, clear explanation of refereeing decisions. At the game you get to enjoy the atmosphere of the live event, but that means you miss some of the tv stuff obviously.

So what’s the problem with putting the var  on the screens at the ground, that’s all I’m asking

You didn't, you asked if the people at the ground knew first. If the broadcasters get the info before it's on the big screen, you expect them not to broadcast it?

2 games in a row we’ve had strange decisions go against us.

Only 3 mins extra time Vs Watford, despite long stoppages in play.

Card happy referee Vs Villa. Ricardo literally got booked for a shoulder barge. Questionable red card tackle by Targett also overlooked.

:dunno:

Done with it now, absolute pile of shit. For Oliver not to show a red is one thing, for the VAR review to last about half a second before backing it up is another.

Nothing questionable about it, it’s one of the worst tackles I’ve seen this season.

Villa should have been down to 9 by the end of the match.

Targett should have seen red for that disgusting tackle on Pereira.

McGinn should have seen a 2nd yellow for the dive.

Grealish should have conceded a penalty on Pereira.

Oliver was poor today. Wasn't helped by VAR that should have been correcting some decisions, mainly the Targett one.

I'm convinced the offside rule still needs clarifying in situations like their goal. Seems a bit subjective. Correct decision probably as the law is written, but you ask yourself 'what if'.

Hopefully VAR will be /has been consistent throughout the season for all teams with that sort decision regarding what is and isn't interfering with play.

Also, no penalty for us when Ricardo was clearly pushed in the back? Did the ref completely miss that? Is that not a clear and obvious mistake? Anywhere else on the pitch and that's easily given as a foul.

At the game you could see him about to whistle and then stop himself looking at the linesman. Well the linesman would have been more concerned about the ball going out. Anyway signals a goal kick.

Heaton boots it, Wesley penalised for a barge of exactly same type of foul

agreed, just watched the game back again, can't honestly see the Ricardo booking was even a foul, didn't use his arm and not even any force with his shoulder. The Grealish push was more forceful and more importantly with his arm. Can't see how the ref or var would miss this, same for the Targett tackle?

McGinn should have already had a first yellow for booting the ball away, his yellow should have been his red

The thing about offsides is that they aren’t even exploiting the available technology.  This allows the players on the pitch to effectively be turned into a pseudo 3D computer game like representation and viewed from multiple angles, including a side on linesman’s view.  Why don’t the invest in this rather than their horizontal and vertical lines on the pitch?  And in general I don’t see why they can’t revert to the old “benefit to the attacker”.  If you need more than 15 seconds to judge the decision then assume he’s onside (or the onfield decision stands).

Offside was never intended to make judgements on marginal calls, so why not use VAR in that spirit?

Just saw Liverpool's 2nd goal on MOTD. For a player to be onside, there needs to be 2 opponents between him and the goal (one of which is usually the goalkeeper).

For that goal, Foster had come forward to deal with the anticipated shot from Origi, so at the time Origi hit the ball forward, a Watford defender was marginally behind (i.e. nearer the goal), Foster, with Salah in between them. However the VAR line was drawn from the defender furthest back, not the 2nd furthest back defender (Foster). Surely that's wrong isn't it? If the line was drawn from the 2nd furthest defender from goal, Salah is offside.

Another defender was further back, sat on the floor.

VAR worked well then pretty much yesterday. Not much controversy, if any at all?

Bournemouth's goal adjudged offside was overruled correctly. The Liverpool offside decisions were correct (Mane was offside and Salah was onside in the same manner/margins)

There has been a bit of backlash in the Bundesliga this weekend. Dortmund had two good penalty calls turned down and a fair bit of controversy in the Wolfsburg vs Gladbach game today. The first Wolfsburg goal was meant to have been offside and VAR didn't even perform a check.

Don’t know if it’s been noted elsewhere but this weekend will deliver more clarity regarding VAR.

All delayed decisions that may be overturned will now be shown on all large screens where available.

First the reason will appear, and if the decision is overturned, the replay will be shown.

The replay should be shown regardless of the decision being overturned or not but I suspect this is to protect the officials.

Anyway, it gives that little bit of hope that things are heading in the right direction...

Or at least the sort of direction we were expecting.
