I imagine it’s because he’ll want to leave. If we get to the Champions League I think he’ll stay one more season but after that you couldn’t begrudge him a move. If Riccy P was lining up for Barcelona or Real Madrid he wouldn’t look out of place at all and could conceivably be even better with more talented players around him. I’m sure we’ve offered him terms and I’m also sure he’s said he’s happy to stay and leave when the time is right.

Most likely he ends up doing 3 seasons giving us immaculate service and consistently good performances and then leaves for a team that could win the Champions League, netting us a tidy profit too. And really in that scenario you could only thank him and wish him the very best. Terrific person and player.

And the rest. He'd be a long way ahead of what they have now.

Best right back in the world.

I think he's been great overall for us, but hasn't been amazing over the past few weeks (who has?), but statements of him being the best right back in the world are a little over the top. Robertson's the best in the league atm for me.

EDIT: TAA not Robertson, obviously:blink:

Robertson's not a right back...

Yes, what I signing Evans has proved to be. I loved the way he was Coaching and offering advice to Justin when they came out for the 2nd hall last night.

With a full season behind him and a good pre seaon I think Youri will grow into the Club. I think he could do better beside Wilf were he doesn't have to run so much.

Justin?

Our best player by a country mile and someone who hasn’t suffered under Rodgers over recent months.

He’d grace just about every club in the world in his position imo.

It could be argued that the players are not suffering under Rodgers.   3rd place.  League Cup semis.  FA Cup quarters (so far).

The club have had few better season's.

Trent is good. But over rated. One because he plays for the best team in the world. Two because he’s got a good whip and a bit of technique.

I assume the query was because JJ was on the bench .....

Perhaps I got it wrong,  I mentioned that it was great the way Evans was offering advice to James Justin after half time, but maybe it was Ricky.

I missed the Match as I was laid up with a lung infection so I only seen the highlights through a haze of Medicinal Drugs.

No worries we move on.

He might look better because of the system and the team he's in, but his stats this season have been great going forward. Plus, he's only 21, imagine him when he's Ricardos age (if he keeps on progressing). Ricardo is brilliant don't get me wrong, probably the best RB we've ever had, but there's a few out there that are better than him.

Serious question, but TAA aside (because he’s been mentioned, not because he’s definitely better) can you mention one? Because I really struggle...

Kimmich, Alves & Walker. We're talking about the best of the best here though. Ricardo is just in the tier below IMO.

I meant TAA in my defence, not sure why I wrote Robertsonlol

Well neither TAA or Ricardo are that good ag defending. Their other work is incredible and that makes up for it, but the modern day "full back" if you can even call them that, are certainly made better by the lack of defending they have to do in good sides.

Agree with this. Think he's a huge beneficiary of the system they play - that said he's ideal for it as well. He's a pretty unorthodox full-back.

Walker? No way. The other too I'd say are similar quality to Ricardo.

His influence in the team (one of the best teams in the World) is big though. I don't think I've seen a full back in this Country with the amount of goals assists he gets. From open play and set pieces he is clinical.

Give him a massive lengthly contract and meet all of his personal demands etc for the duration of it.

He must stay - as he's clearly very talented, settled in well and is one of the stars of the team that Rodgers must build a potentially better team around.

Don't think the club will ever find a better right-back/right-wing back than him, anywhere. A great purchase.

He's got almost everything to succeed even further, professionally,

he's completely changed what it is to be a full back. in 10 years time he will have the position named after him like makelele. people will be looking for someone to "play the trent role" imo.

I think that change a long time ago, Roberto Carlos, Cafu and Dani Alves pretty much changed the role of a fullback.

trent is 21 and has got more club assists than cafu got in his entire 20 year career. he's already ahead of both the other two in terms of goal involvements per game, again, he's 21.

it's not just the fact he's "an attacking full back", it's the fact that liverpool often use him as their main threat going forward. from right back. it's not like barcelona or real madrid were relying on dani alves instead of messi, suarez, henry, iniesta etc. liverpool genuinely use trent as their main source of creation and their biggest outlet because he has the technique and the ability to play anywhere on the pitch, he just happens to be a right back.

he's an unbelievable player.

We’ve tended to sell a player every season to finance expenditure. I can see it being Ricardo especially with Justin waiting in the wings. Not what I want but I can see it happening.

No doubt his a excellent player!

I'm not sure Liverpool rely on Trent, instead of Salah, Mane, Firminio, Robertson's et al

So what are you referring to as the Trent role?

I assume you were about being an attacking full back?
