Calm on the ball, even when played under pressure. Strong and still has one hell of a left boot.

As good as chilwell is, he could still learn a lot from Fuchs with how he positions himself defensively and how he runs down the line

His delivery is excellent.

Both Fuchs and Chilwell get through a lot of work considering there isn't any help on that side at the minute.

Unbelievable that we have to good left backs to pick from.

I really hope Chilwell doesn't just walk back into the team once fit again.

Fuchs crossing ability really is sensational.

Sometimes you can learn more when taking a step back.

I imagine Chilwell will have closely watched Fuchs' game allowing him to modify his own

It’s right that Chilwell has been first pick for the last couple of seasons as he is the future. I don’t, however, think he’s that far ahead in terms of what he brings to the team.

Chilwell brings speed and athleticism and is a constant threat and outlet for the team offensively. Fuchs lacks Chilwell’s running, but probably has the edge defensively and his final ball is miles better than Chilwell’s. Chilwell’s lack of a final ball is currently what holds him back from being a promising player to a great one.

It’s a great position to be in to have Chilwell, but also have somebody of Fuch’s ability to be prepared to sit on the bench.

I’ll reserve judgment until he is up against some young quality fast wingers

a 32 year old Pedro

and a narrow Sheffield untitled are not going to be the toughest tests.

I fail to see how he can be compared to a player that has played a whole season recently and had a lot tougher tests.

Chillwell gets a lot of stick but he is young and always improving.

Fuchs has been good against the limited opposition he has played against.

Dropping him would send out a poor message. Fully deserves to keep his place

Can’t agree…. It also sends the message - ‘get injured and you’re out’

Chilwell has done enough to cement his place at left back…. Granted his first couple of games were a little pedestrian

I love Fuchs and can simply celebrate the fact we have top drawer cover whilst Chilwell is out…. He’s been fantastic

I’m not putting forward Fuchs as great, but I’m also not saying that there is a massive gulf between him and Chilwell.

I like Chilwell and think he’s right to be first pick, but for me he’s often not good enough defensively. Also, as stated, he often fails to hurt the opposition when he gets into great positions.

If Chilwell improves in those areas he’ll be miles ahead of an ageing Fuchs. Unfortunately he’s not quite there just yet.

Chilly is class and it's a shame some fans haven't really taken to him as much as they should. Perhaps the fear of losing him to a top4 side soon enough? However, Fuchs is still probably a more polished player. His effectiveness in the final third is considerably better than Chillwell. I'm happy to see either start and am more worried about the day we have neither!

Disagree completely.

If you bring Chilwell straight in you say to Fuchs and others that even if you play well you're at risk of being replaced once the regular starter is back.

Chilwell needs to show in training that he's fit and compete for the place with Fuchs. Then if he shows to have more quality on the training field then you'd think of swapping.

So you’re going to judge him against Salah and Sterling?

Nobody is comparing him to Chilwell people are just commenting on how well he’s done given his limited game time in recent times!

no I said to say "I don’t, however, think he’s that far ahead in terms of what he brings to the team" of Chilwell is crazy based on Pedro and a narrow Sheffield untied,

There is a reason Fuchs lost his place to Chilwell when he was the most taken on defender in the league.

As i said he has covered well, but to suggest Chilwell isnt far ahead based on those 2 games is slightly shortsighted
