Popular Post ALC Fox Posted 1 September 2019 Popular Post Share Posted 1 September 2019 United brushed aside a Chelsea team that started well but couldn't ultimately get a goal. If we're arrogant about this they could do the same to us. On their day, Rashford, Martial, James and Pogba can be big threats. We can't be complacent as we know we're capable of some lacklustre performances ourselves, even in this first 5 games (including cup) of the season. The Bournemouth game was excellent but we need to be fully focused and on it from the first to the last minute to get something from Old Trafford, as proved by their game against Crystal Palace. A point would be fine. A win would be a really magnificent start to the season. We're more than good enough, but if we take our eye off the ball, we'll come unstuck.
Blue ROI Posted 1 September 2019 Share Posted 1 September 2019 Good time to play them for sure but I fear we'll still have a bit of a hang up over Old Trafford when push comes to shove. If we could get a win in one of the next 2 games that would be a good return and keep our momentum going.

Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 1 September 2019 Popular Post Share Posted 1 September 2019 (edited) It will be interesting to see how we lineup for this one. Man United have the same problem we do which is that they struggle to break down a compact low defensive block which is why they lost to Palace and struggled against Southampton when they went down to ten men. Therefore you could easily make the argument that starting with two CDMs is the way to go and simply look to hit them on the break. However, looking back at the last two times we played them we had more possession and more of the play. We should have got points in both games but didn’t. If we play two CDMs again we run the risk we lose something in terms of creativity. We also miss an opportunity to send a statement to the league. Make no mistake if we came away with 3 points then top 6 is well and truly on! I expect a lineup similar to Chelsea with Maddison as inside left forward and probably Albrighton instead of Perez. Hamza, Ndidi and Tielemans as the midfield 3. I know fans hate this setup but if we control the game and keep it tight for the first 45/60 then we can make the changes to win it in the 2nd half. We finished really strongly against Chelsea and with better finishing would have won it. It’s the more pragmatic but sensible way to approach the game. Next two games will tell us a lot about the season. Even just 2 points would be very good given the opposition or one win and one loss would still be decent (I know it's more points, but also denying other teams around us points is also important). I just really hope we don’t lose to Man U unless they really turn it on because it’s them and Chelsea that look most likely to mess up in the race to finish top 6. Right now we are ahead of both and the longer we keep ahead of them / within striking distance the more chance we have to do it. UniFox21 Posted 1 September 2019 Share Posted 1 September 2019 If Young starts a full back, we need a winger on there. If we can get into that space, dragging Maguire out of position, which'll leave more space for Youri, Maddison and Vardy

Analysethis Posted 1 September 2019 Share Posted 1 September 2019 Im looking forward to that United high line and Vardy in a foot race with Harry, and an in form Tielemans and Maddison finding those through balls for Vards. I havent been so confident for one of our sides going to them in years. I just home if Hamza plays he doesnt kill Pogba, as he has a habit of dallying on the ball which would be too tempting for Hamza!

I'd stick with Albrighton on the right, him and Riccy have a good understanding and is slightly more conservative against the danger of James. Barnes or Gray on the left, whoever trains the hardest over the next few weeks tbh. Their defence can be got at severely.

AylestoneRaider Posted 1 September 2019 Share Posted 1 September 2019 Massive game for us. United have been better than their results suggest and despite what the media would have you believe, they have good options going forward. However, I do believe we will create chances, so if we defend and finish well, we have a decent chance of at least a point. Still a tough game, but this is the only time in the Premier League era to date that we are sending at team to OT that is arguably stronger than United. Will be massive if we get a result here. I honestly do not believe Choudhury would be out of his depth playing against Pogba. It’s quite an exciting prospect. I’ve ran out of being able to like posts today so resorted to quoting. Personally, I’m hoping they collect a few international ‘problems’ during the break. I think they will be fired up for this and will give us a good go. I’d love to have been a fly on the wall at Belvoir Drive for Harry vs Vardy. I still think we can do them if we believe it. Full concentration if we score please.
