I know next to nothing about Bamba, but having looked into Chukwueze and Bergwijn superficially, neither seems to have particularly consistent shooting - exactly like what we already have

..yes we are looking for more goals!!!

Chukweze would open up any team with his pace and he has a great ball skills. Playing at pace is what we are good at, patient build ups are all well and good but an early release with Vardy pulling into the box and we are in. Chukwezes' ability to beat a man opens up spaces against teams sitting deep.

Personally I think he's done a good thing... he's not said that they're crap, he's just trying to get the players to respond to a bit of public pressure and maximise performance.  It's clear that Maddison playing wide doesn't suit us, hence he needs to play in the middle with Tielemans.  Then of course who does he have in the middle out of Tielemans, Maddison, Ndidi, Choudhury and Praet.  Our style of play benefits from having wingers but we haven't quite found the right combination - Barnes is raw, Albrighton is not a goal-scoring winger, Perez is still adjusting, and Gray... well, he's got pace and skill but no consistency.

I'd be interested to see how Barnes gets on on the right wing and Albrighton on the left... I'm not the first to say this but I think Albrighton would combine well with Chilwell (plus give a bit more defensive stability) as Chillwell is great at getting forward but crossing is not his forte.  Barnes and Pereira on the right is quite a frightening prospect for opposing teams on our right side.  I think this combination would be a good mix of youth and experience on both flanks.

Lets see what Rodgers does from here...

Just worries me , how the wingers must feel. Fantastic start to the season and he seems to be having a go at them .ranieri would never have done such a thing. God knows what he will be saying if we lose a few on the trot. Hopefully we never find out

Raneiri did the complete opposite. Allowed sub par performances for months whilst not calling anyone out and those players were never dropped.

Bit harsh Albrighton, he barely gets on the pitch despite being one of our most consistent performers over the past 4 seasons

I wouldn’t call 2 goals 2 assists in a season as consistent tbh, pretty awful if you ask me. I like Albrighton and he’s fine, but he’s more Burnley level then top 4..

I'd rather he was honest personally. He said before the start of the season that he wanted more goals from the wingers so it would be a bit odd if, when asked about it, he said he was really happy with their incredible combined total of one goal so far. As long as it's reasonable, constructive criticism, which I think this is, then I don't think it's a problem.

I think it's more of a structural 'problem' with Vardy tbh. We obviously play to Vardy's strength by playing him as a line leading striker whereas conventionally in 4141/433 the striker drops deep to create space for the wingers. We'd be a bit flat up front if the wide players and Vardy all tried to be in goal scoring positions, we look better when Albrighton plays because he adds more variety to our attack.

Like a few others have said, I'd like to see this team.

Love this from BR. Its honest, they all have strengths and weaknesses, some more than others for different reasons but the simple truth is you need to assist (like Barnes sat) and contribute goals. They are all guilty of this and whilst criticising is often constructive it cant go unsaid given the stakes.

Wouldn't suppose rodgers would come out and tell the world without telling the wingers first. This may also have been a way of saying something to the board by airing it in public. We are currently performing well despite the lack of goals and could be a gentle nudge that another winger wouldn't hurt to push us from January onwards.

That was obvious in the summer, obvious the previous summer and it's obvious now which is why I was so frustrated that we spent £30m on a not-so-top-quality one.

Third time lucky?

Yeah and it was blatantly obvious. We needed two first team players this summer, Tielemans and the best attacking wide player we could get. I would have been ecstatic to see us sign a wide forward who was a level above the wide forwards we already had. More than happy to see Barnes, Gray and Albrighton fight it out for that last place in the team.

I remember saying in the summer if you compare our first XI to that of Man City and Liverpool then we match up pretty well in nine positions. Where we're a distance behind is the wide forwards of Sterling/Mahrez and Sane/Salah who are street ahead.

I really like Barnes and believe he can become a player but the top two teams wide forwards will end up with 25 goals and 25 assists between them.

I can understand that viewpoint but he didn't dig out one player specifically, he said it more as a general statement and he's not wrong! Perez especially for a 30m player has not delivered (yet) even though I think he has talent as he showed in pre-season. If our wingers start delivering we will get Champions League football this season, so I think he's more than entitled to put a little helpful pressure on them.

Also remember that Rodgers leapt to the defence of Maddison after the Casino incident, defended Hamza admirably from Bruce / Klopp, has handled Soyuncu's introduction into the first team brilliantly and Praet into the squad. He's definitely a good man-manager and he has ensured he's looking after the players best interests and well-being. Something I think Rodgers is doing a great job of is creating a winning culture. That means no excuses for not performing at home, trying to get something out of every game, and chasing down hard even at 5-0 up. These are great characteristics to want to imprint on the team and club, and it's how really successful clubs stay that way.

We all know there is too much reliance on Jamie Vardy. Ricardo, Tielemans and Maddison in these first 10 games have also made big contributions at important times, but more players need to help the team out, and it's the wingers that get the most chances to do so.

He said in the summer publically he wanted more goals from the wingers

9 games in and they're not scoring more.

It's not going to be new news for the players. They're aware they're not scoring.

If anything it makes it clear that even though we're doing well we can still improve a lot.

Great attitude by Brendan.

They're not getting any chances though which I don't think is a personnel issue. Under Puel, Barnes was getting into dangerous positions and not scoring but have any of Barnes, Perez, Albrighton or Gray had multiple good chances? Not really.

Can’t believe the love in for Albrighton. He’s not the answer. He’s been a fantastic player for us but we need the next level winger to step this team well and truly into a regular top 4 contender. We need a winger who poses a real threat and scares the opposition. When you look at our starting 11 only Vardy really threatens teams. We need another Mahrez.
