Yes N'Didi Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 For those moaning about away games, if we make the semi final we are much more likely to face a much harder team away from home in one of the legs. To win the cup you have to beat the best, it would be nice to have taken on Oxford, Colchester or Villa but Everton is a winnable game. Just have to play full strength team and go for it.

We'll travel back to Leicester on Wednesday after the Everton game, have Thursday training and most of Friday. Travel up late Friday evening? We get back 1 am thurs morning - no training thursday. certainly nothing outside of any consequence. Would expect a strong line up so those players will be recovering Thursday we won’t normally travel up late Friday - boys need to be fed and early to bed !
holyfox Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 If Brendan can get us consistently pressing hard for 90 mins, then we should beat these guys. No complacency and filled the 1st Team👍 Our best chance in ages to progress to a Cup Semifinals
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Meh - annoying its an away but against a side we can beat. At least we avoided Liverpool / Man City. We're better than all the other teams left in it and should be favourites vs Everton.

We did that against Newcastle 2nd round so I am sure Rodgers will do that once again for this. If we get to the semis and avoid Man City then I would make us favourites to reach the final. We are better than Man Utd, certainly over two legs, Liverpool will play a weak team, Oxford/Colchester/Villa over two legs should be more than doable.
TJB-fox Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Only fixtures I really didn’t fancy was Man City or Everton away. I see both Manchester clubs got a plum draw again. Man City always seem to get lovely routes to the final.

They could stay in the north west until the Saturday but I don't know where they would train I guess. We don't play until 5.30 on the sat, I know its not what they do these days but they could easily travel up on the day. Training will be pretty quiet throughout December anyway with games coming every few days.
Hammo Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Cheer up everyone. I bring positive news.... The last time we played a League Cup quarter final away, in 1997 at Ipswich, we won it 1-0 (Mark Robins the scorer)... ...of course went on to lift the trophy. and we had a Northern Irish manager! Name’s on the cup 😁

Super_horns Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 All the big boys kept apart . I'd fancy you - they only hurt got past our rabble and we've made 8 changes .
Brainy Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Ourselves and Liverpool should be on TV for this round then, since yano, Sky don't see the attraction of putting the smaller teams on TV
SuperMike Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Until today, has there ever been a last-eight cup draw without a single London team in it?
SuperMike Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Amazing to think that if Colchester beat Man U it still wont be their biggest cup giantkilling! Can anyone else remember Simmons and Ray Crawford scoring against the best team EVER? - Leeds United of the early seventies?
Blue ROI Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Not a great draw but could have been worse. We have a somewhat fair record at Everton. Rodgers will prioritise this one surely. I'd be confident of progressing.

It’s swings and roundabouts (unless of course you’re Sean Dyche, who seems to believe he is condemned to eternal misfortune) But we haven’t done badly on our travels of late, have we?... It's also not really a one in sixteen chance because it's observed. ie they're only saying that because it happened and not before the draw. If you go to the casino tonight and play roulette for a few hours you'll see absolutely loads of four in a row sequences whether it be red/black, odds, evens, high low.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Favourable fixture the weekend before this and then a write off fixture the weekend after. Should be going full strength here, absolutely no excuses.

I would love to beat Everton, and then get Liverpool in the semis -- Klopp won't want 2 extra games put on his schedule (especially after the extra games in Qatar, (the week before they come to the King Power, heh)...he will also have to make up a the league game he misses because of the WCC. He has always shown nothing but disdain for the League Cup, and will play his u23's. The only problem is, of course, he will do the same against Villa, so there's that....

Jonezy Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 Meh. Another away tie and plenty of time for Everton to get their mojo back before the game. Wanted one of the big ones at home, so we had a chance to knock them out before 2-legged semis. Oh well the FA Cup is the one we really want anyways (and I really want that one!).

Lambert09 Posted 31 October 2019 Posted 31 October 2019 It is a little demotivating that even if we win 3 of the so called top 6 will be waiting. What looked like a fantastic opportunity beforehand has once again landed in favour of the big clubs. Everton can beat anyone on their day so it should be a good game. Can’t help but feel like we won’t play our strongest team though.
