You imagine what they will be like in the England set up when Liverpool win the league this season, id sack it off now if I was Sterling just like Vardy did šŸ˜‚

Ā

Imagine the likes of Henderson, Alexander-Arnold, Gomes strutting around St Georges like billy big bollox.

Ā

Fvck that lads, go find a long lost great great unclesĀ grandma from Ireland or somewhere and get the fvck out why you can.

Alexander-Arnold seems a good bloke to me. I really haven't rated GomezĀ this season though - looks really shaky at the back, and if Liverpool had to rely on him in coming matches, that could be where they lose points.Ā

You think? He's just given the media license to have a go at him again, and if there's one player who doesn't need that it's him. The England players get so much grief, and it's Southgate'sĀ job to deflect that. Same with Maddison - why not give the full story about what happened (like Brendan did), rather than leaving it ambiguous and giving the media fuel to speculate unfairly. If it were the golden child I am sure it would have been dealt with quite differently.

Ā

By all means deal with it behind close doors and then public facing make up a story about him needing more of a rest to get over a niggleĀ before bringing him in the next match or something.Ā

Nah, Sterlings reaction to the incident has brought this on himself, you can’t blame Southgate for that.

Southgate has got to send a message to the players that club rivalries stay at the door, we are a team and there’s no place for bringing this baggage into the camp.

For me, this is a step up in the management career of Southgate. I absolutely commend him for the stance he has taken.

I half disagree, half agree with you.

Ā

It does take balls to suspend your best player compared to a fringe player, so Southgate gets a point for that.

Ā

But, anyone from a mile away could see the game on Sunday got to both teams, especially Sterling. Both sets should've been given an additional day and not arrived until this morning/afternoon and miss the first days training. Gives them time to cool off before coming in. Good man management would be that and pulling them in for a chat to make sure there's no tension between players.

Ā

The whole camp also is a shit show for letting that leak to the press.Ā

They are highly paid professionals, why give them a day off to calm down. The games finished leave it in the pitch, move on, you are representing England now, not your club and if you aren’t mature enough to leave it at the door, then you deserve dropping for a game.

Because you could clearly see that the whole game got to Sterling, they maybeĀ highly paid professionals, but they're still humans. Yes they should've left it at the door and its wrong to let it boil over, but it's understandable. It's not as if it was just words and a push, Gomez tried to pick sterling up fgs.Ā  Both need a slap round the head and pulling in.

Ā

But, on another note, Southgate needs to call up replacements. We're now missing our best player and a starter in in Barkley.Ā

Chilwell just buzzing at left back and Maddison strutting it out in the casino as Southgate wouldn't play himĀ

So the punishment is keeping him in the squad, training but making him miss one match.

Ā

Brilliant.

It's exactly the right punishment. It lets the other players know that there's a line that they can't cross, but it avoids blowing the whole thing up out of proportion by kicking Sterling out of the squad. Excellent management.

He needs to finish off that film script and go on to win a trophy with England. They could of course have a bit of a creative license and make it into winning the world cup in the film version.Ā

I'm certain of it.Ā

Ā

He's going to hit 25 plus goals. Let him break throughout the season.

Sterling may have been in the wrong here, but it all comes from Gomez trying to pick him up like a baby during the Liverpool game.Ā

Ā

Both acted like morons, but Sterling obviously took it too far by starting this off the pitch. Gomez should probs be spoken to about antagonizing people on the pitch

He will definitely have been spoken to about this, infact all defenders would be.They would be told to do it as much as you can!Ā

Just got the press conference on, one of the journalists just asked - "Can you break down why he has got a one game ban, would you not see that as harsh given James Maddison went to the casino last time and went unpunished?". The press are a joke haha.

not a great look...

It's like that time on Match of the Day when Alan Hansen turned up in a horrific old suit with a cut on his lip. Definitely had a falling out with the wife.
