I found this quite interesting, talking a lot about members of the squad not playing at the moment, etc.

I thought it was interesting to hear Stringer talking about Rodgers apparently having been talking up the importance of having “finishers” in the team and how there will be some players who have a huge role to play specifically as substitutes this season.

You think back to our title winning season and it was a similar philosophy with Okazaki running himself into the ground for an hour and Ulloa or a third midfielder coming on. You sense a similar role for Perez this season

Fantastic performance from the team and it feels really good giving them a slapped Arse :scarf:. the whole team was superb and apart from some chances the Arse never really looked that threatening. the run from Ndidi and the play for Vardy's goal was terrific and the way Vardy set up Maddison for his goal was just a joy to watch. we are genuine top four contenders and the next run of fixtures before we play the top two we need to fill our boots as much as we can because they are all winnable games and we must go into those games believing we can win them all.

I am absolutely loving this season, another fantastic display and result

It's starting to become the season I hoped it would after the end to last year. I was annoyed by our negativity at the start and the needless pushing of Maddison out wide. I think that contributed to us taking long to find our feet performance wise than it should have really.

Almost pornographic!

- Team shape is compact.

- Every player is within 10 yards of at least one other player.

- Average team position is so far up the pitch that both fullbacks are not even in our own half, the perfect way to beat a defensive block.

- Wide forwards pushing up to make space / runs behind our front man.

- Ndidi literally in the very middle of the pitch where he can use his Octopus legs to win the ball and monster every other player in the midfield area, but also provide protection for our CB's.

Someone posted the excerpts from an article from The Athletic in the Rodgers thread which gave a fascinating insight into the way he and his team coach the players. I honestly cannot stress enough times how good a coach he and his team are, and maps like this prove it. I'd in fact love to watch what a training session looks like because the way he has got his ideas across is clearly elite level.

One more thing slightly related but that I feel has gone under the radar is that after we went 2-0 up, we managed the game fantastically well. We went full Puel-ball and retained possession so Arsenal couldn't do anything and they didn't have a shot on target (or possibly even a shot at all) after we went 2-0 up. This is a key skill for a young team to learn, especially if we are in Europe next year. We all loved the ruthlessness of beating Newcastle by 5 and Southampton by 9, but against a top team you have to know when it's time to lock the door and retain control but kill the game off. And we did it superbly.

I almost bust a nut when we kept that passing sequence going and the whole crowd was cheering each pass, it was comical seeing how much we outclassed them there. I really think that that play must have completely broken whatever spirit they had left after the 2nd goal.

We played very "Arsenal" like. The build up play to our goals wouldn't have looked out of place in red and white shirts in the sunshine at Highbury.

Beautiful stuff

They tried to play like counter attacking Leicester too. We were better at being Arsenal than Arsenal and they were worse at being Leicester than Leicester. To be fair though as Bren said it was his change to bring on Gray and play less 'basketball' that won the match. Great match but they had some good chances in the second and without that change and with better Arsenal finishing it could have been a lot closer. Early days and that.

The way Ndidi won the ball back and then dribbled past two of their players before passing the ball was :punk:

I also loved that bit where he tackled Torreira and Maddison at the same time! Showed the intensity Rodgers wants from the team in terms of winning the ball back. That we rank first in the league for number of tackles made is no surprise, everyone on the team does it. Maddison just got up and realised Ndidi was doing his job, which made me laugh.

Incredible really, it's going back to 2015/16 season where there was no-one to really fear in the league.

To be walking away disappointed with the Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United games with the result says how far we've come along. Each of those games we deserved more then the outcome.

Hopefully the return legs of these games on our own territory, we get a more desirable outcome.
