Sutton, sick, bitter and twisted

Recommended Posts

NBCSN in the US is all aboard the Rodgers to Arsenal train as well.

They won't be able to get him right now and by the summer I'm sure they'll have already made a long term appointment. Not worth stressing over.

Any manager that considers taking the Arsenal job should think carefully. The expectations from the fanbase are delusional. Emery was poor, but he did get them to a Europa League final. Before that, the supporters forced out Wenger, who had gone stale, but was a legendary manager. Wenger not only brought them a period of unparalleled success, but he basically carried the entire organization on his back and papered over the cracks. That was all exposed when he left.

Savage is an idiot, not malicious but an idiot where Sutton is someone who is trying to be relevant by being a nasty turd that keeps bobbing up around Rodgers and Leicester.

There are so many astute and entertaining pundits I am not sure how Savage and Sutton continue to steal a living right now...

the trouble with pundits like Sutton and others is they have a big club mentality. they all loved the little Leicester story for a season because they all jumped on the bandwagon but for these it's all about the big established clubs, never mind that Man City were made a big club thanks to being bankrolled by a country.  yes Celtic are a bigger club but they are in a very small pond with virtually no competion and it becomes very stale when there is no competition. sick of pundits with their own favourites and grievences and much prefer neutral pundits with no affinity to any club and just like commentating on a good game and teams doing well and congratualting them.

He’s not paid because he’s good. He’s paid because people like to agree he’s an idiot. And they can only do that if they tune in and watch the ads. He’s not a pundit. He’s a viewer-pulling comedy show that people enjoy complaining about.

.. the Arsenal board gave him too much say in the running of the club. He was involved in contract negotiations, turned deals down because he was not willing to pay a million pound more for players who went on to be world class.

Arsenal allowed him to set the time of his departure even when it was clear that he had little relevance to the game that they were playing.

He should have gone years ago, the "black shirt" marches would have convinced any other manager that his time was over at the club but he and the board stubbornly refused to acknowledge the club was in a downward spiral.

He managed to kep them in CL with limited funds up until his last 2 seasons or so. That was down to Wenger, not Gazidis or anyone else.

I think their decline sharpened when David Dein left.

Sutton is playing up to the Celtic mob.

Savage wouldn't do that with us. I'm really hoping when the current players leave and retire we'll get a bit more backing from our ex-players in the media.

Can’t wait until Vardy, Kasper, and Wes become pundits

Slightly off topic, but Man City have earned the right to be considered one of the "big boys" through years of finishing in the top 4. When they first started upsetting the established elite of Arsenal Man U and Chelsea they were "upstarts", "noisy neighbours", "unsustainable", "millionaire's plaything". It took a good few years to be taken seriously.

Our title season was considered a perfect storm, the stars aligning for something special yet improbable but we weren't considered a big club on the back of one season. This season we are being seen as something more sustainable and have received plenty of plaudits for our young ambitious squad and progressive manager, but we will not be considered a "big club" until we can replicate this form for 3 or 4 seasons. It was the same for Chelsea, Man City and most recently Spurs. You don't break into the elite in 13 games it takes years. We haven't earned the right to be considered a bigger/better club than Arsenal yet.

Having said all that Sutton is a berk and should be ignored.
