Well they do if it's stipulated that it isn't indefinite which we're led to believe is the case here, and have been told since we first showed an interest.

Obviously im wrong, but i thought it was for 3 years.

It's not beyond the realms if man City see us as a real threat, weaken us and it's above board, and they could sell him on for more than the buy back.

I know this is my third post on this thread in quick succession so apologies, but we won't see buying him as weakening you because he'll very soon be back to watching on from the stands every game. And we'll never get more than £50m for him.

Nacho we are interested in having you back at Man City now you have matured abit and finding form.

We are prepared to offer you 200k a week and there is a chance we will win multiple Premier league titles and fa cups as well.

Choice is yours.

Another post on here from me, sorry, but even if he was playing every week and scoring 20 a season (and I do think he'd easily get at least 20 a season if he was playing every week), I still don't see Pep wanting him back. It's an issue of play style more than anything. Kelechi lost his place to Jesus because Jesus can do a whole host of things that 95% of strikers have no idea how to do. Kelechi is a significantly (and I mean significantly) better finisher than Jesus but I don't think he could press, pass, move or defend like Jesus or even Agüero do.

I have just said about clause being for 3 yrs, also remembered many here doubting at the start  that man city wouldnt bother given the talent and cash the club. He isnt the new messi after all

Of course they expire, otherwise you'd have teams pull a stunt whereby the player is nearing the end of his contract so is sold for a reduced fee and then sold immediately back for a smidge more. Or they let the player run their contract down with the agreement they'll re-sign them the day after.

Aguero will be gone soon.

Jesus isn't as good as people think.

Ihanacho is one of the most prolific strikers in Europe buy no one wants to go off his stats

Martinez or Haaland seem more likely surely

If you'd read the entire thread you'd see i conceded i didn't realise the buy back was so big.

The thing is that KI might be dropped when Maddison and Barnes are fit. He simply hasn’t convinced in the lone striker role so it would need a change in formation to accommodate him.

I think he looks so much better in a 2. Maddison could play the role Perez played when he is fit, but then where does Barnes fit? I can’t see BR ever reverting to a 4-4-2.

Ian’s had a run of a few good games and we're talking about buy back clauses - really? I think he’d need to deliver over a season for Man City to even look in his direction irrespective of any T&Cs of a buy-back expiration.

Is this the same Kelechi Iheanacho that people wanted rid of three weeks ago?

And three months ago ... and three years ago ...

Here’s a little song for y’all to sing for Kelechi when you are back in the stands

Nailed it. Those are the same reasons that Rodgers doesn't use Iheanacho as much. Mainly speed.

I think this is spot on. For me he's only ever been any value to us in a strike partnership - whether that was behind Vardy under Puel towards the end of 17-18, with Perez in the absence of Vardy last season, or this season in this 3-5-2 shape. He likes dropping deep too much, which means the whole team drops 10 yards unless we have someone like Vardy with him to push the defence back and give a more attacking focal point.

And as you quite rightly say, two up top becomes virtually impossible, especially when Barnes is back. Harvey is one of our best players now and he is far better coming in off the left, which means we need someone on the right side, and as you can imagine that means there's only room for one centre forward with a midfield three. Iheanacho would be a brilliant third option to have - if we were to bring Edouard in, I'd be very happy to have them as a pair in the absence of Vardy, or just Edouard on his own.

If I was Kelechi, though, I would go and look for a side that do play two up top regularly (Southampton?) and leave us. Imagine him and Ings, for example.

I'd take my money back on him tomorrow if offered, Man City did not make a mistake selling him.

Unbelievable that people are getting their knickers in a twist over the supposed buy out clause. He's sat on our bench for four years and has only played to rest Vardy or because of other injuries. Talk about knee jerk reactions because he scored a hattrick.

He's a decent PL player but will never be a top PL player.

Speed is fashionable but not essential. Not that I'm comparing Nacho with them but none of Sheringham, Kane, Totti or Van Nistelroy, to pick extremes were known for their extreme pace. Surely the point of a good squad is to have a variety of players for different tactical options.

Your so wrong but ok.

Am 100% NOT wrong but you and eclair can carry on being worried if you like, I`m sure you enjoy enjoy a bit of negativity :-) I can ASSURE everyone else that the clause is no longer active, the good thing about it is that we will never find out !

3 decent games against Brighton, Burnley and Sheff U and people think Man City are going to buy him back

I do wonder about about some people on here......

75% wanted him out of the club in a poll just several weeks a go.

It beggars belief.

I’m not sure it’s feasible because too many players would miss out if we played with Vardy and Iheanacho over the course of a season - but, if Iheanacho started 35 games a season I reckon he’d easily get 20+ goal contributions.

I think we could try a very lopsided 4231 with Iheanacho on the right (as somebody else mentioned). Especially when Ricardo is fully fit again and Ndidi covering.

So in possession we’d look a bit like -

                 Vardy

Barnes          Iheanacho

               Maddison      Pereira

      Tielemans

 TC/JJ                 Ndidi

          JE/CS Fofana

It’s worth trying it I think

@volpeazzurroThis is perfect. I'd also add that the most efficient model for our attacking unit is Liverpool. An interchangeable front three. Given the way Rodgers likes to play players in multiple positions that seems our likely future and is probably most cost effective. Nothing against Iheanacho but the time he spends on the bench is an insult to his talent. He needs to play on a regular basis. Just too limited to play here.

He’s had a good season. He played well in the Europa League and cup games. He barely played in the premier league until recently and he’s continuing the good form.

So you really think he done enough for Man City to be interested?

He had good games, not a good season.

If he has 10 PL goals by the end of the season, I'd agree he has a good season.

He has barely played because he hasn't done enough in the time he has had to get in the team, injuries has given him his chance.

Unfortunately he can't play as a lone striker, so we have to play an formation that suits him.

To be fair to him he's taken his chance.

Along with the goals the best thing about Nachos return to form is that it takes some of the emphasis off Vardy.

As lone striker Vardy was recently starting to get a bit too worked out by the opposition.

Now with both in form teams are doubting themselves about the best approach to take. Sheffield United looked completely clueless on how to deal with them.

...down to fitness and loss of form!!!

He will still do the same things he has always done, it is just that he seems hesitant in his finishing and reluctant to push the boundaries having had the operation.
