I'd preefer none of our players to get called up for a bunch of pointless friendlies, in fact I'd be happy for them not to get called up for full competitive internationals.

More games, less rest, increased chance of a strain.

I'm coming round to this viewpoint too, especially as joining full England squads seems to lead to our players being tapped up by the big club brigade in the dressing room and then sold to said clubs eg Maguire, Chilwell and Drinkwater.

Agree but if he gets called up to the u21s he's likely to be involved in all 3 group stage fixtures. He's going to get called up to one of the squads in March.

Its crazy to imagine but i don't even think he's started for the U21s yet has he?

If he does get called up to Seniors he won't be starting which makes it even more pointless

He featured in most of the Euro qualifiers in 2020 & 19 and started quite a few of them. It's utter madness that they are trying to cram in 3 international fixures in an already congested/condensed fixture list off the back of almost no pre season.

Surely only about 8 good games before Sky Sports' Twitter page has him in a half and half Manchester United/Liverpool shirt.

I think it will be a Man City shirt, Mendy or Zinchenko will drop a stinker in one game and Sky Sports will start going on about who they could get to replace them and no doubt they will mention JJ

Yeah i decided to check for myself after i typed, looks like he started 4 of the Euro 20 games but in 4 different positions RCB, LB, RB & RWB & scored at RWB

Looking at the upcoming fixtures they are WC Qualifiers but looking at the dire opposition & the fact they are 'in-season' (March) he will play probably along with Barnes & Maddison whilst the usual suspects are given a rest or come down with mystery 1 week injuries only to be promoted again for the Euro's

I'm amazed why more full backs can't play both sides. It's such a great versatility. I can only think of Azpilicueta and Lahm who done it successfully at a high level.

Maybe in the coming years we will see a huge trend in full backs being equally good on both sides. We've seen inverted wingers and ball playing  goal keepers. Versatile full backs will ne next.

Kieran Trippier could be replaced and dislodged by JJ in the RB position under southgate.

I'd also say with a twist of irony that he could dislodge Chillwell at LB.

Over to southgate with his big club ethos.

You know when we sold Maguire and started playing Soyuncu we all half seriously thought Soyuncu was better for a while and then for a large part, it turned out true. The same has happened again with Chilwell and Justin. I wasn't totally sold when people last season were saying Justin was the ready made replacement but bloody hell, he's so much better than I thought he was, he's been one of our best players this season, making plenty of team of the seasons so far and it's a travesty if he's not at the Euros to be honest.

Chilwell used to ball watch so much and then get caught out of position. His attacking play was pretty good but Justin is at least matching that.

To be fair, I still rate Trippier so I think he should stay in the squad albeit he wont be match fit. He might retire early from England duty though as a fvck you to the FA for the stupid ban.

As for the other full backs, I can think of many who are better than JJ right now.

Thoroughly agree. Players are struggling with hamstring injuries/calfs/ankles/ligaments and on and on after sustained 2 games a week of play. They should've cancelled international football until at least this summer when there will be some normality again.

Agreed that’s his ACL.

They did the acl test on him and then called for the stretcher. Didn't look good at all.

Only possible ray of hope there is he seemed quite relaxed and not in heaps of pain?

perhaps he felt something and obviously tacking no risks, no movement and stretchered off.

If he tore any knee ligament the pain is excruciating.

Something not right but I'm holding out a Ray of hope.

Played every minute in the  PL. Why didn't Fuchs start especially in a back 3. The decision to play him in the least important competition could bite us in the backside.

I've tore my ACL and it's not immensely painful - I hobbled off the pitch on it. Ricardo played 45 mins on a torn ACL.

Sadly all signs point to an ACL given he did it landing and twisting and they tested his ACL and called for the stretcher.
