Devonfox1884 Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 The only way this goes through is if we have a replacement sorted and ready to go. Let’s hope it’s Tagliafico.
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 21 August 2020 Popular Post Share Posted 21 August 2020 £50m is about fair, £30m for Taglificio and then £10m on Thauvin and we're dancing.
Guest ttfn Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 £50m is plenty. There is a global recession on, prices are not going to be what they were. As context he’s about the same price as Werner who is a much better player and a striker to boot.

ronnup Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 If we get Tagliafico for the same or less the price is irrelevant.

Well it depends on their relative ability doesn’t it? If we sign Tagliafico for that money and he turns out to be the same standard as Chilwell then it would be poor business. From the relatively little I’ve seen (CL games) he looks to have more about him.
Popular Post Jaspa Posted 21 August 2020 Popular Post Share Posted 21 August 2020 Shouldn't matter we didn't get Champions League, it didn't stop us holding out for the cheddar for Maguire. Should be expecting £65m+ at least for Chilly
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 50 mil is great business if we use it wisely. However that's a big IF!!!

jeffschlupp Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 Good deal, good riddance, you've got 3 weeks to sort a replacement boys. Tagliafico would be mega and an upgrade - age is irrelevant when you have Thomas waiting in the wings.
GingerrrFox Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 For what it’s worth I’ve heard the £50 million is the guaranteed and there’s more ££ dependent on Chelsea winning things over the course of his first contract with them.

Tbh i do think tagliafico suits us better for our passing style but chilwell is around the same quality with different characteristics and isnt the finished product. If you factor in the age difference we've been done over if this is true.

MPH Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 Was a lot of paper talk that Maguire was close to a 50 million switch to Man United too... possibly chelsea trying to put pressure on us to do the deal like Man United did...

Percy and Ornstein are not dealing in paper talk - this has been briefed to them by one or both of the clubs.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 Wish him well but there's absolutely no reason we can't improve on him, as well as in other areas of the pitch if we shop wisely. Cheers Ben.
Legend_in_blue Posted 21 August 2020 Share Posted 21 August 2020 50 million is ok. 60 million would have been better although I don't think he's that good to warrant 60 million, 50 million is stretching it as it is. We won't miss him and it will be interesting to see how he does. Imo, he'll be performing above his station so it will be interesting to see how long he lasts.
