Shock horror puel wants to keep 1 of his best players. We would be doing exactly the same. Do some on here really believe just because he’s an ex manager that he will just let him go. Obviously if the fee has been agreed with the club then he will go.

This transfer should be straight forward now.

I hope you're right - my concern is that the interview might cause heels to be dug in further.

Interviews and Puel aside, does anyone know if he’s any good?

Meant to be very good.

No, but that just adds to the excitement for me 😂 (and seriously, our club have earned our trust imo)

Fans of Saint Ettiene say he’s got a higher skill ceiling than Saliba who has just gone to Arsenal for around 25m.

Already looked great dealing with Mbappe and co in the French Cup final.

Probably just add on needs resolving

The player wants to come, his agent wants him to come, leicester want him....they just need to resolve the fee - early next week i reckon.

I've only seen clips but he's extremely highly rated in France.

Usual caveats to seeing him do well for us apply, ie St Etienne to actually sanction the move, him settling well in terms of culture etc at a young ago, how suited he is to the PL, what sort of partnership he can form with his teammates etc, but yeah he has bags of talent.

We apparently have options, while Puel may merely end up shooting himself in le foot

What time is the medical @Ric Flair?

Will be all done and dusted by tomorrow IMO. We'll send a representative out there or meet on neutral ground. Then he can be available for Man City onwards.

This exchange reminds me of a meeting I was sitting in on, but not really involved with a couple of years ago, when the claims director of a UK insurer addressed an Underwriter starting what became my favourite ever rant with 'With as little respect as possible,......'

I think his sister getting physically targeted prompted his decision to 'go there'. Football 'fans' eh.

Some on here will never believe anyone can have any connection to anyone inside the club, or grasp how life is fluid that things do change.

Not even for Burnley?! This place will go mad.

Yeah, the sister thing is a low blow; but I bet it happens all the time.

Might be a bit of opportunism on his part in using that excuse to go public and try to force a move.

Or I might just be a grumpy old cynic. Actually, yeah. It's that one!

Why do we want this kid? He’s got a terrible attitude. If he’s willing to publicly state that he wants to leave ASSE to join us, he WILL do the same to us in a couple of years when Man U or Chelsea come knocking. Perhaps he’ll even sit in an Airport in Paris waiting for a move.

The kid seems toxic to me. Talented maybe but toxic certainly. Walk away from the deal please LCFC. We have to protect ourselves long term.

When I was in high level meetings and the opening salvo contained ‘ with all respect ‘ it invariably got messy. A better translation would be ‘ now listen twat ‘

Very true and maybe I'm being too 'rose tinted' for city's eventual benefit. But this is never acceptable.

I don't think Puel helped out either, his 'man management' skills of ignoring him then publicly saying this isn't going ahead this year.

A concern is that St Ettiene refuse to deal because of this now very public spat.

Similar to us with Mahrez / DD though; once the player really wants to go and you've got a substantial offer in, what is the point in paying and possibly playing a player who doesn't really want to be there.

I mean, you're spot on with what you say, but they could end up with a completely disinterested player, still paying his wages and without the transfer fee in their back pocket.

On the optimistic view, I reckon if he's gone this far to move to us then it's a good sign he'll work hard and want to be his best when he gets here.

Nice for it to be this way round for a change , although I would be p*ssed off the other way round 😅 We are massive !

Yes, this is a worry, but if he wants to walk away to Man U, Chelsea etc in 3 years it will be for a massive profit. Unfortunately, for the owners, this primarily is still a business and our business model, which appears pretty successful, is to buy young talent that have the potential for huge sell on value.
