At least it's not some shity 3rd rate betting company like half the Premier League/football league. I'd rather have this, a charity or a local company than a betting company and a load of chinese characters.

Ha, didnt even see this comment when I made mine.  Great minds and all that.

I'm never bothered when the owners do things like this.

It's not necessarily about getting people to visit Thailand. King Power have done this so that they continue to be in the government's good books so that they can continue to get favourable deals like the duty free monopolies they renegotiated last year. It's all part of their business plan.

They've done it in a way that is totally inoffensive on our kit (looks just the same as KP would), and we'll probably never hear about it again throughout the season. I also quite like the fact they've used When You're Smiling's lyrics as part of the slogan.

I've got absolutely no problem with the kit either. Blue shorts and gold have been worn in our most successful years, as has been said many times. It's not ugly, it looks virtually the same as last season's barring some different sleeve cuffs. The keeper kits are a bit naff but who cares?

Shirts nothing special but the people losing there heads over it can’t have been around when we had kits made by JJB Sports, Burrda or Jako. Some horrific efforts back then

I’m not really sure that Thai people are the ones King Power are trying to get to fly to and spend money in Thailand after the global tourism industry cratered this year.

As already discussed, it would have to be a small number of people who look at a Leicester shirt saying ‘Thailand smiles with you’ and go “you know what, I’m gonna go to Thailand now”.

However, think of the millions across South East Asia who see that slogan and go “Leicester City has a more meaningful connection with me than any other English club”.

It’s a two-pronged approach. Curry some favour with Thai movers and shakers in Thailand tourism industry (undoubtedly good for King Power - and I’ll remind everyone that’s King Power at this point, not Leicester City and believe it or not the two are separate entities) and strengthen connection with a large number of the target supporter base.

All of our commercial strategy has been about targeting South East Asia over the last few years. Our club is simply a vehicle to reach those audiences. Think about the beer advertised round the pitch - it’s not because we see that in a Wetherspoons and think we’d like a pint of it, it’s beer Asian tv audiences will see in their supermarket when they do their local shop. The purple sleeve sponsor we had, Siam Commercial Bank - any UK Leicester fans banking with them?!

I get it that clubs have to exploit these commercial opportunities. It is unfortunately the way football has gone. But I object to taking something traditional and authentic and commercialising it. Imagine how Liverpool fans would react if they came out with a shirt saying ‘You’ll Never Bet Alone’ or Everton ‘Nil Satis Nisi Optimum Asian Bank’.

Instead we have our fans “we should sing Thailand smiles with you” and “quite like the Thailand smiles with you, might buy it as I have many King Power ones already”.  It’s not a big deal, but let the baby steps in commoditising your club’s identity go unquestioned now then don’t be appealed if the giant leap comes later.

People absolutely love to shout down people that don't like it. It's just a feeding frenzy who can get there first to pick up a few rep points on foxestalk.co.uk. Some people don't like it and voice their opinions, get over yourself.

Just what I’m doing you mean, voicing my opinion. Also, wasn’t shouting anyone done, just merely stated I was bored of people moaning about gold. It’s not just today, it’s been a while now. Even seen some pathetic stickers flying around lol

Completely ignore the fact I said we’ve had gold kits in the mid 90’s, that’s cool. It wasn’t a problem then.

Ok, you like the gold, good for you. Again I was just stating that every year we go through this, the new kit gets released and some people like it, some don't. Some people like the gold and some don't. But for whatever reason some people take extreme exception to people not liking the gold and will actively go after people that state their opinion on not liking the gold for whatever reason. You're no more of a fan for liking the gold and vice versa.

It's ironic as I think at this point the people crying about people not liking gold, are crying more than the people who they're crying at ever did about the gold in the first place lol

A backlash to the backlash before the backlash has even happened.

Ignoring the blandness of the kit, I really don’t get the slogan. From a marketing perspective it has no clear message.

Would ‘visit Thailand’ not have made more sense?

To anyone else not particularly au fait with Leicester City the slogan is confusing at best. Why on earth is Thailand smiling with me? To even those who do get the reference it’s a strange choice to target such a small group of people.

assuming it’s a dodge to avoid ffp It doesn’t seem to subtle a dodge.

Dont mind the shirts.... I think the lcfc retail jonnies are too quick to milk fans.

If course we want a kit like the players have... and why arent kids shirts at cost.  Boys in my sons class can buy an lfc shirt for 20 quid in sports direct.

This used to come up at FCC... as I sought to shame the club fot fleecing fans and the next generation of supporters.  These retail gits are to focussed on money thru the club shop tills.   I always thought Susan Whelan took  a fans point if view but I am beginning to wonder.

I think we need to write her a letter.

It’s not that I like it, it just doesn’t bother me. It’s just the constant moans and the other shit that comes with it “LCFC not KPFC”. Alright, we can’t all be elite fans. People seem to forget that we’d never have had the days we’ve had following the club without the backing we’ve had. But hey let’s go back to being absolute dross if it means we don’t have a bit of gold on our kit.

You're still making little digs aren't you, you can't help yourself.

My post that you’re replying to had absolutely nothing to do with any of this.

I’ve seen plenty, wasn’t just referring to here. It’s embarrassing. Especially when we had gold away kits 92-96. People moaning for the sake of moaning. It’s the same predictable “KPFC” Moaners. Get over yourselves.

We had yellow away kits in 92-96, not gold.

I've got no problem with introducing a third colour, I just think gold looks crap.
