He really is in a world of shit. The United hierarchy must be absolutely fuming that instead of potential big players they're linked with, their captain is plastered over the news for being arrested. Surely that's his captaincy gone, Southgate's previous actions of dropping players involved in these things would suggest he could be out for the next internationals in September too.

Would a custodial sentence affect the  scheduled payments from Man Utd?

Can’t wait for us to have a scenario in the transfer where they don’t have to pay us if he tried to knock out a bribe a police man while pissed.

Come on, people are seriously expecting a custodial sentence for Maguire?lol

Regardless of who he is - hitting a policeman is a serious offence in any country. He's being charged Which could bring a number of different outcomes.

He's not hit some nobody in a bar - he'd be home by now if that had happened.

Potentially hitting the copper and bribery are next level incidences compared to just a drunken fight with other drunkards.

We've had footballers defraud the Government out of millions in tax who got a fine. He will absolutely not be getting a prison sentence, some of you will be disappointed if that's what you're expecting.

He'll get a high class lawyer, he'll get off with a fine, at worst community service (I highly doubt he'll even get this) which he'll be allowed to serve over here. He's set to deny all charges it says in reports. As Bert has already said, money is everything in these cases, a random bloke might get sent down for a couple of months, but a EPL footballer earning 200k a week? No chance.
