It's in response to the things I have been labelled personally directly to my posts. I have not given any indication who those people might be in the click. I could be wrong but it's my perception. It's more in the hope that people might consider their responses. As I say I dont mind people saying I am wrong, I am sure I often am (especially in the heat of moments because of caring and wanting lcfc to be a success). People can even change my view if the give a good reason. It doesnt make me any lesser fan or person because people disagree with me, but apparently to some it does. The same kind of stuff filters across to the General Chat area too. Ok. I think, therefore, you have to assume that other people have a perception too, and that's where their insinuations come from. How did the negotiation go where Man City won't pay £41m outright, but got themselves a mega deal at £40m + £1m in addons. Didn't this happen a couple years back when Arsenal bid for Suarez? Pretty sure they apparently offered Liverpool straight cash plus £1 add on?

Wasn’t it just that they offered £40,000,001 because there was a clause in Suarez’ contract that said they had to accept anything over £40m? For some reason people found this hilarious and a stick with which to beat Arsenal - it still is today. When in reality they were offering what his contract said he was worth. If something’s priced at £9.01 in a shop I’m not going to offer £10 just so I feel like I’ve paid a normal price.
FerrisBueller Posted 30 July 2020 Share Posted 30 July 2020 Lots of noise about Man City going for Ferran Torres - £25 Million apparently. I'm sure we were vaguely linked with him, or at least someone alluded to it.

You can really pretend our business in the past window was particularly effective. Well I suppose the 'Absolute Happy Clappers' can as we 'achieved our objectives'. They need to be acting quickly now. I dont care if we 'know about them' just get in done, there isnt enough time before next season begins to be posing around like we usually do. The last time we had an effective transfer window was under Claude Puel. The best one we ever had was before Pearson was sacked. Who is “acting quickly” ? Brighton have done good business for them. Lallana on a three year deal for his wage would be poor business for us. He will probably start more games for them then us. The lad they’ve signed from Ajax would probably get into their first team, at Leicester he wouldn’t get a starting spot (who would you replace ? Pereira, Evans or Soy ?) For those reasons, they were probably easy deals for Brighton to do. Man City have snapped up Ake and Chelsea have opened up the cheque book to buy two highly sought after and expensive players we probably couldn’t afford in terms of wages. A third equally expensive wonder signing is on its way apparently. Otherwise, no ones really done any business yet worth noting. Our last summer window, we did what we needed to. The priority was Tielemans - had we not signed him, the summer would’ve been poor. James was a good signing and despite our run at the end added real value to our squad. It’s unfortunate he has had to replace one of the best right backs in the world but his performances, especially against United and Villa before lockdown show what a quality player we have on our hands. The jury is still out on Perez who unfortunately has the majority of the time played his Leicester career out of position. January is always a difficult window. We went after a world class cb who unfortunately got injured and chose, quite sensibly not to over pay for other targets. Bennett wasn’t great but was obviously a plan C or D. Apart from 2016 summer, we’ve done really well in the market. We’ve built a consistent premier league side and two which have broken into the top 6.Not bad progress I would say. Finally, we need to spend money wisely, we have taken calculated risks to build a world class training ground and expand our stadium. This means we need to maintain, at the very least, our premier league status for a few years at least. Failure to do so could be catastrophic. In addition, if we make mistakes in the window, these would further add to the liability column. We need to “know about” our signings to ensure we continue to progress. We can’t afford mistakes like a Morata or Di Maria for example. They are big enough players at big enough clubs for the selling club to re-coup most of the fees. We will make a heavy loss on Slimani by the time he goes. We will make mistakes but provided that the vast majority of signings are successful, like they have been since summer 2016, our windows have been successful.

StriderHiryu Posted 30 July 2020 Share Posted 30 July 2020 41m for Ake is a steal considering Maguire went for 80m. I was secretly hoping we would get Ake actually, as he was affordable but you aren't going to beat Man City once they are interested.

One of the most mercurial talents I have ever seen in a City shirt - wonderful one week, woeful the next - so there is no clear evidence that this will be the case. The hope is that because he is still young he will learn and improve the weaker parts of his game (particularly his finishing). Your words are duly marked! Stadt Posted 30 July 2020 Share Posted 30 July 2020 There’s barely any left footed CBs in the league (seriously low amount). Ake is, the right sort of age for Man City, mobile and decent on the ball. £40m seems pretty much par for the course. As for Newcastle, hahahahaha
