Weird how our Puel teams performed better against the top sides yet were so dire against the lesser ones

Rodgers shits himself against anyone slightly good, his whole set up is "we are bad and should limit damage" which probably rubs onto the players.

Puel and even Ranieri had a bit more courage.

Believe it or not, Puel was more positive when it comes to trying to beat top sides. Rodgers would field 11 defenders if he can.

Puel was not given enough time. He was trying to rely too much on Ndidi at a time when his passing was atrocious and was just losing too much of the ball - this was more prominent when we face so called lesser teams because we could not break them down. Rodgers inherited a much better Ndidi.  Puel was not a bad manager.

There’s just no point. You don’t even get any feeling of optimism playing against the big teams any more. He’s too busy trying to tickle their ego and “contain” them giving them all this respect. It’s a complete waste of time even turning up with this set up.

Puel just played the same way, bore the opposition to death. Worked against these teams but not the teams that enjoy defending

I’m not sure that’s fair at all, I’d say the opposite is true of Rodgers most of the time.

The way he set the team up at the Etihad and at home to Liverpool last season was suicidal. Way too open in key areas.

We’re set up today like we did under Puel (positionally if not by formation) in those big games where you’re right we tended to do better. We did get beaten 5-1 here under Puel when we tried to defend too deep.

I didn't expect anything from this game but this is just going to be yet another abject 'effort' against a top side. Aka it's as easy a win as they'll have this season. That's what bugs me, more than losing itself.

We've got to hope we're somehow only a goal down by the time it's acceptable to make a sub.
