Admiral sails in on loan

Gareth Ainsworth has made a first move into the loan market in this January transfer window, bringing highly-rated Leicester City striker Admiral Muskwe to Adams Park on a deal until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old, capped four times by the Zimbabwean national side, has been a prolific goalscorer for the Foxes at all youth levels since joining the club aged nine, and enjoyed his first loan spell in senior football with Swindon Town last season.

Admiral trained with the squad on Tuesday, will wear squad number 15, and is eligible to feature in Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Preston North End at Adams Park.

Ainsworth said: “Admiral has all the attributes to be a success in our side and help us score more goals in our survival efforts this season. He’s quick, good with his feet, strong physically and a great goalscoring record, all of which means we believe he can fit well into the way we play and develop his game by benefitting from playing Championship football.

“We have a good relationship with Leicester City and I’d like to thank them for allowing us to bring Admiral here, and also to Rob Couhig and the board for making it possible. We have a few targets that we’re chasing and we really believe that we’re not far off having a side that can win enough points to keep us in the division.”

Wow, he was abysmal at Swindon who a lower level than Wycombe. All the best Admiral!

Good luck to the lad. Swindon were in a state when he went there so has a chance to step up a level and show what he can do.

More encouraging is having two youth players at one club, that's the kind of relationships we need to be working towards.

Seems a grounded guy from what I've heard in interviews. It's a shame that most of our loanees end up in a relegation or midtable side that often end badly. Muskwe, Ndukwu and Hirst for starters...

I'm really disappointed to see he's only had 5 games at senior level at 22 years old - he's less than a year younger than Tielemans!

Sounds like a good move for him though, lets see what he can do.

Admiral can fly the flag for us at the bottom of the ocean Championship.  Although there is something fishy about him joining Wycombe.

Let's hope he will swim and not sink. If he does well there maybe he can go on to become part of their crew and Captain their team

I haven't  liked the response on some of their forums. Who the fxxk is he?, fancy palming off a dud on us, we need a proper International player, only played 5 proper first team games, and we don't need other teams cast offs. Of course his name has brought out much hilarity.

I hope they give him a chance otherwise it could knock him back has a player. I have seen him play for the development side and he looks pretty good to me  but what do I know.

I do kind of understand their issue, they got baited very well by the Wycombe social media team using the whole international player thing, and the only actual first team football experience he has is about 100 minutes for Swindon in League 2, so it is a bit jump from that to a relegation battling side in the Championship who could probably do with a striker with a history of scoring goals

I imagine it would be much the same on here if we were in that situation

Hopefully he can play enough and do enough for Wycombe to bring them around though

“ we have a good relationship with Leicester “. Ha! Fook off, I haven’t forgotten 😡

Neither have I and what was worse i was working for the local press in Wycombe at the time.

On the Monday after the game I had to produce a supplement for their semi final with Liverpool. Imagine I cried all the way home after the QF defeat and then worked twice as hard on the Monday because of it😯

Maybe we can send them Slimani as well?!?
