Maddison, Perez and Choudhury Covid breach confirmed - Percy

They still represent the football club whether it’s a job or they’re invested as a fan. It’s still not a reason. They are in a high profile position where everything they do is a reflection on the club, they have a responsibility to act in a way that doesn’t act against the club’s interests.

But the distinction is also important because it is beyond bizarre that any fan of the football club would find any way to defend players who showed they didn’t give a **** about our most important game to date.

Yeah and the punishment should be proportional and handled internally like it has been and would be in any other job.

My point is calling for them to be sacked and never play again is way over the top.

You’ve made the point I made yourself. All they’ve been allowed to do is carry on doing their job, just like everyone else. Regardless of the job it is, if all you could do was work and see your colleagues and no body else for a year its going to have an effect. Throw in the fact they are under more scrutiny than the average joe they can’t bend the rules like most people have been to see their families and friends especially if they are young and single.

I’m not demeaning the pandemic, i’m on about the fans reaction to the breach of the rules. They aren’t a sackable offence.

Speak for yourself mate, I’ve not bent or broken the rules. My point was also that a lot of people are furloughed and on inforced working from home, so seeing colleagues in person is a luxury we haven’t all had.

Anyway, I don’t entirely disagree, people are overreacting, but people are also trying to make light of what they’ve done. It’s incredibly disappointing actions on their part

People are just angry. Barnes and Maddison will get away with it because they have goodwill in the bank and they are class players.

Hamza has done nothing but moan about gametime previously and also missed a tactics session before as well.

As for Perez I don't know, good squad player, but this might upset a few higher up.

All that has happened is that we lose players for a crucial game, the squad is weakened, the bench severely and we'll probably have to wait a bit longer to see if they all test negative so they can return.

Shit all round.

Be proportional.. They broke covid rules possibly putting whole team at risk. One this could have meant more players out of further games and absolutely squashes morale I would have thought. They are on 120k/80k a week and did this before an absolutely huge game. Now I'm not saying sack then but I'd want severe fines and full apologies on letting down their team mates, manager, chairman and fans. Also apology in front of cameras not some crap on twitter. I'm shocked with madders as speaks so well but obviously just media trained.

Three Leicester players axed from squad for crunch West Ham game over Covid breach

Leicester axed James Maddison, Ayoze Perez and Hamza Choudhury from their top-four shootout with West Ham after the trio breached Covid regulations.

Furious Brendan Rodgers left them out of his squad after discovering they attended a party after the Premier League match against Manchester City last weekend.

It is understood the party was held by Perez, the forward, and Rodgers has taken a hardline stance by excluding them from his plans for the potentially pivotal game at West Ham.

Telegraph Sport understands the trio have not been fined as yet for breaking club rules, with Rodgers insisting that leaving them out of Sunday's crunch game was punishment enough.

Rodgers made no reference to the incident in his press conference on Friday afternoon, but will address the issue after the West Ham game.

Maddison, Perez and Choudhury will be available for next Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Southampton at Wembley.

A Leicester City spokesman said: "The club has made its expectations around adherence to COVID-19 protocols abundantly clear to all its personnel.

"It is extremely disappointing, therefore, to learn of a breach that had the potential to undermine the efforts of club staff to protect the environments in which our teams train and play. Appropriate measures have been taken to prevent our team bubbles being compromised.

"We wholly expect our people to behave in a way that reflects the national effort and the sacrifices made by our communities to control the spread of the virus. Those involved have apologised for their poor judgement. Our response to the matter will be concluded internally."

Maddison has only recently returned from a hip injury and this latest incident could damage his hopes of an England recall.

Though he missed out on last month's World Cup qualifiers, Maddison has been watched by England manager Gareth Southgate on a number of occasions this season and this could leave him facing a battle to win back his international place.

In October 2019, Southgate warned his England players that he continually monitors their behaviour, shortly after Maddison was photographed at a poker table in a casino.

On that occasion, Rodgers defended the £25 million signing and insisted his reputation as a troublemaker was undeserved.

Perez's absence comes at a time when the forward has been in arguably the best form of his Leicester career since his move from Newcastle in July 2019.

Choudhury, the midfielder, could be facing an uncertain future as a Leicester player after he was warned over his discipline by Rodgers last season.

Former Leicester defender Ben Chilwell and Choudhury were both left out of the squad for the game at Burnley last January, and subsequently fined, for turning up late to a training session.

Choudhury was a loan target for Newcastle and West Brom in the January transfer window, and it is likely he will be made available this summer.

Absolute idiots. I hope they are fined a good few months wages at least. Choudhury must be gone now, he is shit and obviously a **** to boot. Shouldn't be here.

Disappointed in Maddison as he talks like he has some sense but clearly doesn't. Hopefully that has put paid to his England career this summer at least, there are a lot of more deserving players, that will hopefully be punishment enough for him. He is going to need to knuckle down and prove himself now with some outstanding performances.

Perez I can take or leave but I guess the club are not going to sack a 30+ million asset that someone else will sign up, unless its a very serious crime. A shame as Perez had a few of his best games for use recently!

What is it with some on here who dismiss anything said instantly because it isn't confirmed in the media? 😂

The cvnts who went to this party need fining a good few weeks wages and more. Make all the players stay at Segrave from tomorrow onwards especially for next week ffs.

Deeply unhappy.

This is what angers people. As with most things in life footballers have had this tough period way easier than the average folk.

No job loss threat way more socialising than the average. It still isn't enough for them though. They're above the norms.

The three players are guilty of showing a massive lack of respect to the club and fans ....

madders can kiss goodbye completely to his England chances this close to the tournament

it’s a disgrace

EDIT: apparently I need to expand on this post by explaining that the rumour is of Maddison, Perez and hamza attending a house party (thus breaking covid bubble rules as well as the law)

Clearly it isn’t just a rumour either ...

Hope there proud of themselves, should be a big big fine for them all.
