....done a pretty poor job of it so far!!!

Perez

Ghezzal

Under

Gray

Diabate

There are quite a few genuine wingers out here, it always seems like an afterthought for us.

They’ve   done a pretty terrible job so far but that doesn’t mean they don’t know or they’ve  not tried . For all we know we could have tried to sign a few top wingers and it’s just not come off for one reason or another or not worked out . A few had high hopes for Under and on paper it looked like it could have been a good signing it just didn’t work out .

More, similar chatter here from another pretty reliable ITK.

5 year contract too!

Edit: Although others are reporting 4 years:

...strange, but he is the only one from that list which made you think for one second someone said we need a player on the right wing, let us get someone in!!!

We cannot be so poor at recruitment for this position that we are so inept in bringing in a genuine player.

Take a look at @Ricflair and his post over the last four seasons, all he is asking for a Right Winger, like everybody else.

We'll sign Soumare and Edouard for less than the price of Villa signing Championship player Buendia.....

Smart business.

Probably a case of 4 years plus option for one more, something becoming quite a common trend around Europe. Take Olivier Giroud at Chelsea, Chelsea have extended his contract but will still likely be sold to AC Milan. The contract extension means they can increase the transfer fee as the fee is usually based on the player's current wage multiplied by number of months left on a player's contract. This is why Atalanta can charge a premium for Robin Gosens as another example although they probably will sell him for the right price.

Still needs some polishing apparently ...   let’s hope he doesn’t turn out to be another Akinbadbuy ...   :fc:

I'm sure Brendan will be capable of developing him. With Akinbiyi it was tantamount to polishing a turd, not possible! lol

Solid business, we should be more excited about this than we seem to be. I've a nagging doubt he might find it difficult in the PL but everything is pointing towards him being more than good enough so I hope to be wrong.

think we've been linked with him since before Rodgers was even our manager, I've reached the I'll believe it when I see it phase hence my lack of excitement

We have 3 strikers in our squad next season who all scored more than 17 goals each.

We’ve been linked with endless right wingers, sometimes your top targets aren’t gettable. Ghezzel was a panic as we failed with our other targets. Eventually we’ll get one of main targets, if we can’t I’d rather just loan one like Under to cover the position.

For £15m it's worth the punt. I share your concerns if he cost £35m.

...we are not looking for a superstar, nor are we expecting to pickup the finished article, we just need someone who can play the position, as his main role!!!

Season after season we bring people in and target this or that position and to a degree some positions need to be addressed immediately as a matter of urgency, but we still cannot bring in a player to play a position crying out to be filled.

His dribbling ability really impresses me, think that side of his game and his physicality will be very useful for us when we try to break down the low block that many sides employ at the KP.

...if anyone will be the player to look to achieve this then it will be Soumare and not Edouard!!!

Soumare will drive the team forward relentlessly and that is what Rodgers seeks to get up the pitch quickly before your opponents can reset. If you are bringing the ball forward someone will eventually have to come and engage you, that spot now vacated will need our opponents to readjust.

We’ve brought in 3 players since Mahrez left to play that position.

How times have changed.

Remember when we were worried about losing players to Celtic, having lost O’Neill etc

It’s proved troublesome for sure.

Under was disappointing, as many felt he was capable. Unfortunately he never looked fully fit.
