If I was given the choice between 5th place and winning the cup and CL and losing the final, I'd take the cup everytime. Of course playing a weakened team doesn't guarantee a trophy but I'd be very forgiving if Brendan decided to do that.

Same!

Surely we learnt that we can’t play 5 atb without Jonny?

With or without him we have the same problems, Rodgers was so stubborn on it against Newcastle we stuck with it for 90 minutes so doubt he's even considering a change.

It makes me think about what the actual reason for our demise 2 seasons in a row at the close of play end of the season is? Is it that we don't have the nerve? Or that we don't have the squad and they are burned out? Any other thoughts?

Its simple..I terrestrisch the Chronic injuriessince the beginning of the season, then trying to Nurse Major players back...

Only to find at the turn of the year some were hit again.....

One cant expect after the Type of injuries our players had they would hit the ground running...

Last season saw our 4 Talismen..Vardy &  Ndidi,Ricardo & Maddison then Fuchs,Evans,Chilwell,Tielemans

have the Management-Team temper and Kept Quiet their injuries

to Compound the situation because of Covid, the season was extended...with little Time to attack recuperation...

Then wham..this season Soyu,Justin  Evans,Vardy (even though he started well), Continuation,Ndidi, Ricardo, & Maddison, with at least 4-5 including Castagna,

having worse than just nothing injuries, but the Type where they were put vor 4-6 weeks, amore...

Not One has had enough Time to get back into the groove, and for us a long and comgested season, sees the decimation of our squad has Simply caught

up with us....

Thats Why I cant understand the cynical criticism of Rodgers & squad , plus many on this forum are either ignorant of, or Not understanding the situation...

To his Credit Rodgers has kept it low-key and hasnt gone off whining about. It like the others with bigger better rescources....

I have mentions it often enough...Squad , manager, & Coaching staff have done brilliant under These circumstances to even get us competing,

and Holding Top 4 spread over 34 games ( hopefully until EOS)..What chance have they Really had to find a consistent from routine & rythme..!

Look at other clubs over the years where their Top men have had 3months to 10 months out, none of them have just stepped back in and Kicker on

where they Left off.. If takes anything from 1/3 to a Full season....We have had Not 1-2 but  6+ of our squad's  BBone of quality-performers Ripped out..!

Soyuncu, and a little way .....Vardy, are the only two on returning that showed a decent readressing of their Standard & quality, but still both have had

below avg.performances, with unexpected inconsistencies...Ndidi also has been really hot and cold, sometimes suprisingly poor..

Surely not, unless we are going 4 at the back

surely he has to be guessing to try and be the first to get the news out? when he was the main man on twitter he was leaking it about 2 hours before kick off but hasn't been posting team news as much lately. I refuse to believe Rodgers is going with that back 3 again with Albrighton as left wing back and a half fit Ricardo at right wing back!!!!!

I've not been nervous for this for a while. I was planning to occupy myself with work all day to keep my mind off the game but instead find myself refreshing FT every few minutes to read the same comments/ opinions over and over!

Darn! At least wait until the season is over before the post-mortem.

Last I checked, we ARE in 4th place, with 3 games against teams we've already beaten this season.

COYF :scarf:

Don't get me wrong, I really hope we right a wrong from last season, but my question was more about the last few games and how badly we have played in them, even with a lot of our "first" teamers back in. I completely understand the injury's argument and if we had dropped out of the top 4 a few months back I think most people would have agreed that was due to the injuries we have had. Now with quite a few of them back and a lot of the strongest team available we are playing badly and not getting the results we want. I actually think the last few games we have missed Barnes and JJ due to their ability to run at players and break lines. We do not have that at the moment.

Not sure if that is a 4-4-2 or 3atb with Castagne at CB and Marc as a wingback?

If we go unchanged, we are gonna get hammered.

Depends on how effective Evans is using his crutches to defend crosses.

Could be 5 at the back with Castagne at CB or 442, probs the former. Grim.

I highly doubt a back 4 until Barnes is back. He carries us up the pitch and we don’t have another player in a midfield capacity who can to that. Unless he plays Castagne or Ricardo in these positions.

It's not ideal, but I'd play Ndidi at the back for this one if Evans is definitely ruled out and BR is set on 5 at the back.

Albrighton ahead of Ricardo on recent form and I feel Praet helps things move quicker in midfield ahead of Mendy.

Kasper

Castagne

Cags

Ndidi

Fofana

Albrighton

Praet

Youri

Maddison

Vardy

Nacho

That depends whether VAR considers them to be an extension of his arms

We have players out of form though who we need to deliver.  Feel like we should keep trying to play our best team and hope they click.

Wash your mouth out.

I was rather hoping for the reverse psychology affect and that we’ll see the Vardy of old

If Brenden asked for my input I'd go with this and a back 4

About as good as it gets on paper, lets see if they can do it on grass!
