As with all these transfer links rather speculative but I'm sure he'll be wanted sooner rather than later from the not as rich as they were clubs.

Barcelona and Liverpool set to lock horns for the signature of Premier League aceUdhav AroraPublished 2 hours agoon 20/05/2021By Udhav Arora

Barcelona have had the pleasure of fielding some exceptionally gifted midfielders in their setup. Starting from academy talents like Xavi Hernandez, Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta to players bought and groomed to suit the Barcelona way like Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Ivan Rakitic, among others. If reports from Calcio Mercato are to believed, Barça could add the very talented Youri Tielemans to their arsenal.

Tielemans has enjoyed a rather successful campaign with Leicester City, pushing them to a possible top 4 finish with Champions League football, and winning the FA Cup, courtesy of his bizarre strike in the final against Chelsea. In a team that has suffered numerous injuries across the season, the Belgian has been a constant presence, scoring six goals and assisting four.

One could argue that Barcelona have the midfield department covered with Pedri and de Jong coming in strong, but Ilaix Moriba and Riqui Puig have failed to provide adequate competition to them so far. The addition of Tielemans in the middle could boost the midfield several layers, especially considering the lack of creativity and shooting prowess there.

That said, the report states that the Blaugranas will be facing competition from Liverpool if they are to pursue the 24-year-old’s signature. They, too, lack midfielders with creative prowess in the final third and would be augmented massively by the presence of the Belgian.

Leicester are one of the smartest clubs across Europe when it comes to transfer strategies. With two years left on Tielemans’ contract, they will not be ready to sell him for a low-ball offer. Given the dire situation of Barcelona’s finances, it seems hardly possible that they will be able to afford him.

Moreover, there are other areas of concern on the pitch for Joan Laporta, namely the inclusion of a striker and a world-class central defender that take priority over the midfield this summer. The centre of the park has been the only constant for Barça, and it can take a backseat for a while.

I know this is a big ask in a pretty hard to moderate sub forum but can we be a bit stricter with "Outgoing" rumours this window?

We've got more attention on us as a club than ever, guys like Tielemans, Fofana and Co are getting attention and recognition across the continent and with us winning the Cup but missing out on CL again, there's going to be lazy journalists, wishful bloggers, click bait fanzines and whatever else from all over the world linking our players CONSTANTLY to moves away.

The only credible news source to speak on Tielemans was multiple accurate Leicester journos saying he's about to extend his contract.

In the interests of lowering the general hysteria around here every two minutes can we kill all these outgoing links unless they're from a genuinely well known source like Fabrizio or that Belgian guy that broke a load of our recent transfer news?

I bet you’re great fun at parties.

An article that argues with its own validity lol

Would love to know how much it would actually cost.

Genuinely don't think we would accept less than £100m.

Isn't he 2 years away from walking on a free? Hate to be the realist here but he holds the cards. Perhaps we get Trincao and some money? Would be a disaster in all honesty. Everything good goes through him at the mo. We're really too reliant on him.

If a big enough club comes in for him and they match our valuation he'll go. Why worry about things you can't control? we'll survive.

And the original "article" where the story came from, don't know who actually said it cos they didn't put a name to it. Get your mortgage on it, it's happening!

At the end of the season Youri Tielemans will discuss with Leicester the renewal of the contract expiring in 2023, but on the Belgian midfielder born in 1997 there are Barcelona and Liverpool.

Appreciate the suggestion and I did open the post with a 'they're all speculative", but I do it to save other people having to click on the original link thus reducing their clickbait numbers. If we strictly followed your suggestion there'd be no need for a transfer forum as most of the incoming rumours are also highly speculative and often highly improbable.

There's the forum aspect as well as it increases the forum post count and it's linked to other social media sites possible attracting new members which I understand increases the advertising revenue for the forum.

But I'll leave @Markto clarify that and 'rule' on this.

Certainly wont bother me as I take the view it's all bollocks until it's on the OS.

none of those clubs could afford the 80+ mill we'd demand. Liverpool are after a defender, striker and midfielder (if Wijnaldum leaves) according to reports

Not convinced any of the 'big clubs' will be interested. Youri lacks the athleticism that they look for.

True, they love having beasts in midfield that can press all day. his fitness wouldn’t be quite as good as it has been this year too because he’d play less.

His class and passing makes up for lack of athleticism though. Brilliant footballer

Depends on the club.

Any side that really dominates the ball would be good for him. I'd have thought Real Madrid rather than Barca in Spain, take over the Modric/Kroos roles.

Whilst he isn't athletic, his stamina is decent, and his football intelligence makes up for it somewhat as well.

Thing is even if this is all rag tabloid rumours and nonsense memes, as long as it's based on something in the media it'll draw in huge swaths of information foragers from all of the big clubs to this website when and if they're linked. Scrolling past FoxesTalk adverts and so on - it's hugely important to maintenance of the forum.

It's not like we're any better when we're linked with someone wildly speculative or otherwise. It turns into a complete bloodbath where you have to read through 20 posts which have appeared in one afternoon with the thread *red hot*, only to find 3 posters have taken it upon themselves to get up to page 300 asap. You feel lucky to learn something new after trawling through 30 pages most days. The seasoned FoxesTalker should be used to this show by now.
