It's fair enough that you accept cheating as part of sport. But surely you don't really see it as a 'value'?

It's hard to cheat and get away with it. If you are clever enough to fool everyone  then yeah why not. Look at Lance Armstrong, he was near lauded as a Saint like figure until he got found out.

I dont think what the Italians did yesterday justified all the hate towards them

Rumoured/leaked team is supposedly 4-3-3:

Pickford

Walker Stones Maguire Shaw

Rice Phillips Mount

Sancho Kane Sterling

On your basis that cheating is something to value, you must still think highly of Lance Armstrong then? I'm assuming he's still a 'saint' to you?

Looks good for once but I would have Foden and Grealish in for Mount and Sancho.

If he HAD got away with it yes he would have been saintly to me.

Need to get over this cheating shit and stop being snowflakes.

It happens.

Deal with it.

I have a bit of a duality on this topic tbh.

I said recently that when you step on the field of play you do what is necessary to win, anything at all. But that should be only within the letter of the rules/laws of the game, and if the rules allow for blatant acts to gain an immediate unfair advantage (example: Suarez handball) then the rules should be changed.

No longer going to get riled about the team, hopefully he'll make it work and Grealish and Foden likely to play huge parts from the bench if needs be.

2-0 tonight

Kane and Foden

So we'll just let teachers do their exams for the kids then?
Really not a good attitude to have. Cheating at anything is unnecessary. Either you're good enough or you're not. You can still achieve amazing things. Look at Mark Cavendish. He might not win the Tour but he's won two stages and that's absolutely amazing.

I should add that I think Armstrong's cheating is some of the absolute worst. He came through a pretty bad cancer diagnosis and STILL competed. He had nothing to prove. There was absolutely no need to cheat and I find what he did pretty disgusting. I remember at school being told about him in an assembly after a teacher got diagnosed with cancer (she eventually had to quit and I'm not sure what happened to her). We were all really hopefully and I always looked up to Lance, even as a non-fan of his sport. How anyone can defend him is beyond me.

Sancho straight in after sighing for Man Utd then

There is no other reason, he hasn't got a look in and then he suddenly starts?

Well Saka is injured, but Foden was ahead of him at the start of the tournament.

Italians win trophies, they play good solid football they cheat sometimes.

England win feck all and play sh1t football- perhaps they should get a mean streak mentality.

I tell my kids to win at sport and IF they need to cheat to win so be it.

Your happy with your values,I'm happy with mine.

What about the actual football they played...probablybthe best by far in the competition?

It's like a championship heavyweight boxer who every now and again hits below the belt.

This is sport at the top level.

It's called winning stuff

It WAS pathetic 100%.

I was partly outraged and partly laughing.

Gotta laugh at it really.

At the end of the day it's been going on for decades and will NEVER stop.

Embrace it to win trophies IF you need to else stop moaning, play the gentleman's way and win nothing.

Totally 100% disagree ….   can’t stand cheating fookers in any sport.

I wouldn't want to be one of Raj's sons when he played against the overage ringer in his school U14's cup final.

'So, you lost 74-0 and the striker had a beard, get over it son, and stop crying ffs.' lol

Ok.

I can see why you post over 1000 times per year and receive less than 100 likes in the same time frame  Maybe you should cheat when posting and post stuff you don't mean, I'm sure that would help lol

Deep breath … be brave …. remember ..  it coming home !!!

Not sure if that’s the cup or an early flight with the England team on it though ….  :(

I'll be on a patio for this one with a couple other England supporters and the rest who just root against us lol

Usually takes me 10 minutes in to get settled with the nerves.

Feel confident of a win though.

England have got some truly brilliant players available at the moment ….   so don’t worry …. even if Wayne Rooney was the manager we should still win this …

I'm glad someone else is. There seems to be way too much confidence in some of the posts I've seen. I hope us two are the ones who are wrong.

I just can't see us making it easy in any way. Thankfully, I don't really get bent out of shape by England disappointments these days. I'd like them to win and I'll be as involved as always during the match, but, if we mess it up, I can genuinely shrug my shoulders these days and order another beer.

We are rightly favourites, but that means shit, doesn't it?

Unless, of course, you were referring to placing a large bet that Sancho wouldn't start a game in the tournament...

Fortunately, honour and fair play is still seen as important in sport - because true sportsmen and women and fans of sport appreciate and understand the dedication and sacrifice that goes into be a champion on merit and rightly castigate those found guilty of cheating.
