mozartfox Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 This needs to be shut down soonest. The season is only 10 days away and we can do without all this fuching Arsenal crap. Tell them it’s 75m and cash only - NONE of the deadwood and unless a bid is accepted by a set time/date - we are not selling in this window. Finished. We do not want another Maguire style saga - just the same fee
Jakemoore Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 If Maddison truly does want to move to Arsenal then I would seriously question his passion for football and desire to succeed. Don’t get me wrong, I know Arsenal are a far bigger football club than us. They have a rich history full of trophies and successes. But that’s it. They aren’t better than us now. They aren’t more likely to win trophies than us right now. They have a PE teacher in charge of their first team who has done very little to persuade most football fans that he’ll ever achieve half of what BR has managed. If Maddison wants to go and play for them in this current state then I totally question whether he likes football at all, let alone loves it as he claims to. The motivation can be financial at this point in time and nothing else.

I really don’t think Rudkin’s sitting around giving any BS offers the time of day.
Ric Flair Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 Reiss Nelson is a player I'd want us to take a chance on. 1

Im guessing a big part of his motivation would be wanting ‘the London life’ like his best mate Ben Chilwank was so eager to have Edited 4 August 2021 by South Shire Fox
Pick Good Name Later Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 This makes sense to do. Brilliant when fit. Key to our success. Stats back this up. Ultimately though, the question is (that none of us know the answer to) is how long can we keep him fit for? Not only this, but when back in the starting 11, how long do we carry him for when he's missing as not fully fit and evidently off the pace. For the fee purported, we can strengthen in two, at a push three positions. For a player that hasn't managed a full season yet and what the club is demanding for a fee you trust the recruitment network that has served us so well and you sell.

Finnegan Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 They've wanted Aouar for ages, they get linked every year. He's either not interested or they can't afford him. I don't really see where the money would be coming from unless Kroenke is going to do an Ashley and splash out a bit just to shut the fans up for a while. They've spent fifty mil on a defender already. By current arsenal trends that's basically them done. I don't know where anyone thinks the cash for Aouar is coming from let alone some of the other ridiculous links like Maddison, Martinez and even Lukaku. 1

Aouar is available for £20m and yet they're coming at us for double/treble that for Maddison. They seemingly are taking a lot of risks this summer.
South Shire Fox Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 If we sold Maddison for 60-70 million id be quite happy if we used part of it in signing Martin Odegaard as a replacement tbh then putting the rest towards the RW targets

They’re professional footballers. It’s their job. Some of them inevitably would rather be working somewhere else, but that’ll be true for all workplaces, and as long as they do their job while here, that’s fair enough. Okay yes fair point, but we used kante as much as kante used us. He never wanted to play for us, but did so to highlight his ability, for maddison he'll feel he's already done that, and now we should be letting him move on, it could just get messy, which I hope it doesn't. As for Arsenal, they need to get serious if they want the player, making silly offers of player plus cash is disrespectful imo.
hackneyfox Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 I can’t work out why everyone is laughing at Arsenal fans for believing he’s on the way and then posting about how we shouldn’t sell him late in the window and discussing what we’d do with the money. 3

Hollyfox Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 I think Brendan will have the vital say in this. If he want Madders to stay, then Top etc will back him or he might decide to go himself when another big club parts with their manager. You do get the feeling that BR and Madders relationship is fragile (I could be way off though) and a parting of the ways and an opportunity to bring in quality replacements, could be tempting for BR. I do think that Madders will want the move though, but I could be way off with that as well 😄. The talk of Youri etc feeling the club is going backwards by selling key players might not be correct. They might be glad to see the back of him

Imagine the stick he would have got, Maddison has been slated by City fans with 8 goals and 5 assists in 31 PL games!
ScrumpyJack Posted 4 August 2021 Posted 4 August 2021 Just had a look over last season and without Maddison in the team we would have been 9 points worse off. 1
