I thought he looked like an accident waiting to happen again but still a big improvement on Soyuncu at that moment in time, which sums up how much Soyuncu had lost his head.

Did well today and I thought Rodgers did the right thing to replace Soyuncu, who really has become a liability this season at times

Decent cameo, with one important block from Maddison's error. Hit and miss in possession and with the direction of his clearances. One good pass of note straight up the middle setting up a Perez attack, but otherwise unremarkable. Hopefully will help his confidence having contributed to the win.

Appreciate Soy has got a lot in the bank with his outstanding performances, but he has been generally poor this season yet doesn't get anywhere near the criticism that Vestergaard has received. He's been directly responsible for at least two goals we've conceded (vs West Ham and vs Spartak Moscow) and his implosions have lost us key games in previous seasons.

Didn't watch the game but by the comments on here and the reports I've read, it was another disappointing performance.

It's clearly a confidence issue. Also, he's playing on the left side of the three, where Vestergaard is better suited as he plays there for Denmark, while Soy prefers to play on the right.

Much better next to Evans, like every defender we have lol

Put in a good foot here and there and almost settled us against their momentum. Soyuncu was a red card waiting to happen.

What on earth has gone wrong with CS? Unrecognisable from the tremendous composed player of a year or so back :(

He's had some good moments (the sliding tackle on Ronaldo stands out), but is clearly having a crisis of confidence. Noticeable reduction in Cruyff turns of late

It’s been a bizarre regression it really has.

Wasnt he being linked with Man City at one point?

We’d have a job to sell him how he’s playing now

Yeah I would mention confidence, too.

He's quite clearly a good player and the whole team seemed to have confidence issues (for whatever reason). Maybe some are just recovering at different rates. He's had some good moments in some games but the frenetic nature of his game seems to have returned (similar to when he first signed).

I have immense trust in Rodgers and coaches to turn it round, but sometimes it just needs to come from within the player himself, and I think it will.

No one can really tell how decent a centre half is when they are playing with Jonny Evans. Jonny is like a game-breaking buff for any unit next to him. For all we know Fofana could actually be absolute shite, who knows.

Wasn’t too bad when we won the FA Cup

Soyuncu stays on the pitch and the result would’ve probably been different. Reassured cameo from Vesty, credit where it’s due.

Agreed, a couple of minor wobbly moments but defended the aerial bombardment manfully!!

The more I think about it the more I start to believe that soyuncu is the problem. He must be an absolute nightmare to be partnered with. You have absolutely no idea what he’s going to do next.

Im not judging JV until he’s had a run of games next to Johnny.

think back to Newcastle, you would have thought fofana was completely hopeless but it’s because there’s this huge lack of communication

You need to start reading some better reports.

He was quite good.  Miles better than Soyuncu was, though last night that was a low bar.

You misunderstood me mate - I said Soyuncu was disappointing again, not Vestergaard.

He's a lamppost. Shouldn't be near the squad.

Bringing a lamppost on for a Tasmanian Devil does not seem the worst idea in the world tbh

Irregardless of what you think of Jannick, Cags is a problem at the moment

Player does ok, people still want to slag him off.

He did a good job, he's a decent squad player, we aren't going to have 25 world beaters in our squad.

Quite, but we cearly should have just bought Upmecano though

Oh, sorry!  My bad, that’s what I get reading threads on 5 minute breaks at work.

Soyuncu is going through it at the moment but he is a very talented player. Its in his head of course and that's why Evans is so vital to him. Amartey is another level headed defender so the more these three play together the better it will be for Caglar. We certainly need clean sheets but I think they are coming.
