Stop playing him. He’s a liability. Give the young lads a go over him. Is it Nelson who is highly rated? He can’t do any worse and it’s great experience for him.

im so disappointed in Vestergaard. I though playing for a better team with more possession would suit him better but he’s looked massively out of his depth. There are championship defenders who you would pick ahead of him at the minute.

His biomechanics or whatever you want to call it mean he’s just a horse shit defender. The way he tried to attack the ball to clear it a couple of times yesterday was just baffling. £15m on a 29 year old pool noodle :S

He doesn't look fit to me. I think he can be useful when he gets fully match fit.

I'm not so sure it's that but if it is then why on earth are we playing him? Put him through a conditioning programme for as long as it takes, we don't exactly need him. There's not a chance Benkovic or Nelson would be this bad, they might not be good enough but what we're seeing from Vestergaard is astonishing.

The way he gets taken on so incredibly easily is embarrassing for a professional footballer, and watching the big bastard duck under and pull out of headers is a joke. He's simply not even close to being good enough. Saints fans weren't bothered to see him go

I do find the need to keep digging him out all the time bizarre.

Hes not been good by any means but he's cover and has played far more than we would have wanted him to. He's also woefully out of form.

As for the 'hes the worst I've ever seen'....some people have very short memories and no idea how spoiled we are with Soyuncu, Evans and Fofana.

You could probably count on one hand how many times a player has skipped past Jonny Evans, with Vesty you would do well to count how many times in one game on one hand. I wouldn’t mind as much if he tried to swipe the man down but they casually drop a shoulder and they’re gone, it’s horrific to see your CB get rinsed by the most simplest movement, most the time it’s not even any great level of skill, it’s simply moving!!

Legia - multiple times player cuts in on right foot

Burnley 2nd goal, ball played up into our box, the guy does a shimmy makes 2 yards of space and crosses to Cornet to score (Ricky certainly didn’t cover himself in glory either but was so easy for the player to lose Vesty within the 18 yard box).

Palace - Eduoard simply steps inside to lose him then smashes the crossbar

Moscow - comes on as sub and gets turned like a kipper 25 yards out, ball played wide into 18yard box … goal!

Brighton - in first 5mins MacAllistar turned him on the half way line (no danger) but the game continued to where he got done numerous times after that.

^^^ these are just off the top of my head and only revolve around being turned on the ground, then you throw into the mix the half clearances that have resulted in great chances for the opposition and goals (Palace, Schlupp)!!

Feels like bit of a witch hunt but it’s genuinely not, he just isn’t mobile enough to play at this level, that’s the unfortunate simple fact!!

Are we spoiled? We conceded 50 goals last season. Our defensive problems pre-date Vestergard by a margin. Our much vaunted recruitment regime has as many misses as hits. Vestergard is about what you get for the money if we wanted better we should have bought Tarkowski.

I think the main issue people have is that he's cost £15 million and is an international defender who's had good games.

We all know the market is the market and he doesn't dictate his price. But for £15 million, a PL experienced defender (results aside) and good form for his country, we're right to expect better.

He looked okay in a 3 tonight. The issues came when Bertrand came off and we switched to a back 4.

I agree with this. Looked perfectly apt in the three last night, when we switched to a four, he looked abit lost.

Agree.

I didn't fancy him from the off. But thought he was decent v Man City and saw him win everything in the air against us when they beat us at home after the 9-0. He's marshalled Southampton defensive displays against Man U in particular....so he can do it.

He was an emergency signing, his pre season was disrupted via injury and He's just not a Leicester man yet....I'm guessing he's  nervous as any normal person might be.

We complained about Maguire being turned by any striker with 70 FIFA pace, but Vestergaard gets turned by 56 pace players. And he is 6'6 but I'd bet my house that 5'7 Iain Hume would win seven out of ten aerial duels against Vestergaard. Amazing how a player with his physique can be so terrible.

All the people claiming he's one of or the worst defender to ever play for us - that's just ridiculous hyperbole and completely undermines your argument. If you think he's bad, try and actually articulate that without resorting to crazy extremes.

All true. He’s just the latest scape goat on here. He’s alright.

Before the season started a good few were pensioning off Evans and dismissing Amartey as a park level player. In truth no defensive set up we have had since 2016 has been particularly good. The current one is the best we can do right now but is by no means good enough for a top six side.

He's okay as long as he's not actually having to defend. Or put in a tackle, or head a ball. Or run. Or recover

But as he can pass a ball Brendan is happy enough.

£15 million is robbery surely there would have been someone cheaper who could have done a better job.

Not seen a worse start to a defensive career at our club for decades. He is an abomination.

It’s Jimmy Willis esq.

Hopefully he turns it around like Jimmy.

I quite liked Jimmy.

But you're right, he was awful when he first arrived.

We had an attacking free kick late in the 2nd half and it looked clear the angle the ball was going to go into the box so the defenders to attack, considering he is out tallest player did anyone see him walking to the other end  of the box where clearly the free kick was not going to go. It looked like even the opposition defenders looked confused thinking is this a tactical ploy or are the lights on and no body is at home!!

Fofana, soyuncu and Evans are bang average then and didn't play for a side that finished 5th. I stand corrected.

It's a fair point. Maybe they just though it was better to play his way into fitness..
