I can’t even question our system or his skill set in it. I mean clearly he can’t play in a high line, that was obvious yesterday. It’s the basics that really worry me. He can’t block, tackle or head the ****ing ball. The only thing he’s good for is a sideways pass.

Awful awful signing.

Kane is a world class player and was easily the best player on the pitch last night. Soyuncu should have man marked him all night. It ain't pretty but you have to do it sometimes with players of his ability.

...it was surprising that he was orchestrating the game for them and not someone who got on the end of moves to finish!!!

Very much thinking we need to sit someone on him to stop the influence he was having. Everything went through him on the night, and just keeping him with his back to goal would have helped us no end.

Weird thing is, I can vividly remember him being unbeatable in the home match against S'ton in the season of the 0-9. The one where they beat us as they were obviously stoked up for some kind of revenge. I can remember thinking that he'd do a decent job for us

Also, he seems to do OK for Denmark and was actually pretty steady in the euro semi final.

He had a few good months at Southampton (and even better at the Euros)...

But ultimately Saints fans were glad to be rid of him, as per the prevailing sentiment on their forum when we came calling.

He is no John Terry for sure , but if we had won 2-1 ,which we should have done, would he have got this sort of kicking. Amartey and Ndidi will put him back on the bench very shortly.

Other than his sever lack of pace we was actually not that bad in the second half but blew it in the last minute by losing out an an aerial challenge, which he should be winning, in the build up to their equaliser. He was also at fault of their first goal by playing a suicidal pass straight to a spurs player, after he done the same thing a few minutes earlier. While he improved in the second half his error in the dying seconds cost us.

Borussia are losing Ginter and Zakaria on free's this summer. For the love of God can they panic and take him off our hands and at the very least just cover his wages for the remaining 2 years.

He's the worst defender I've seen in some years at Leicester.

High line + LCB in a back 3 was just a ridiculous decision I dont know why he wasnt in the middle of the 3. Once Thomas was high up the pitch we basically had the slowest footballer to exist in charge of the left side - if Son was playing it would have been a massacre on the counter attacks.

He just doesnt fit our team at all. He can pass (although yesterday he gave the ball away and they scored) but that's about it. I just forsee loans to Turkish clubs until his contract expires.

I thought the same about him on the left of a back 3 where he would be completely exposed when our left wing back pushed forward. Surely you play him in the middle with the two faster CBs either side. Spurs exploited the space between our left sided CB and WB all game, it was so obvious that was going to happen.

This has to be the most brutal thread on FT lol At least Perez had some fan boys that couldn't accept he's doggo.

At least Perez looks like he's trying. I can't stand talented players who don't try, like Gray, I don't mind limited players who put their all in like Perez. But Vestergaard is the worst of both worlds, a limited player who doesn't look like he's trying.

Verging on comedy now, this. He just hasn’t got it in him, you sometimes get cliche lines saying he wouldn’t get in a Sunday league side etc but he’s been as consistently bad as anything I’ve seen for a good 10 years at city. I’d rather have paid £15 million for Paudie O’Connor from Bradford and I think he’d give it a better crack than this chump.

Haha I don't disagree at all and see your point. I just read 5 pages of abuse and actually felt sorry for the poor bastard lol Nobody in his corner. A player hasn't been universally disliked this much since Dennis Wise surely?

That was a different sort of dislike, for me. Dennis Wise is just a nasty **** with no redeeming features. This bloke is just a shit footballer, I’m sure he’s a fine bloke away from the game.

Brendan trains the squad and will know who the youth players are

This very long post is pointless really. Rodgers plays Vestergaard because he has no other choice.

The recruitment in the summer was just poor. There’s no getting away from it.

No other choice?  He could have played Hamza alongside Soyuncu - couldn't have been worse.  In fact, designating Hamza to marshal Kane might have worked well.

But what about the new lad Brunt?  Stepped up from u23 level to handle a weak Watford attack very competently and assuredly.  Who's to say he couldn't have handled the next step up against Spurs.  A big ask, but a good learning experience, and could he have been any worse?

I have no idea what attributes the scouting team thought he’d bring to improve our team! I can only guess they simply went on his height and assumed he’d be a physical specimen who’d be dominant in the air as well as in the tackle

Reality is he has zero attributes that I’d want from a cb! Poor in the air… probably the slowest player I’ve ever seen… has a touch of the Kaspers about him when it comes to passing where he thinks he’s David Beckham when he’s actually more Danny Simpson… turns like a truck and to top it off he’s out here getting out muscled by players like Lucas Moura!

We can but hope that this was a Congerton signing due to the fact he’s some how been poached by another club and not down to our actual scouting team!

I’m genuinely starting to question if Junior Lewis is still the worst player I’ve seen in a Leicester shirt lol

Perez is ten times the footballer thus guy is. Sure he has weaknesses but you can also see his strengths and he does some limited things very well. But Vestergaard does almost nothing well. Occasionally gets a good block in. Occasional pass.

I do think he is trying and is desperate to do well. He's just not good enough and is being humiliated every game we play.

Surely he must know how ****ing terrible he is? Its like me turning up to the airport fly a plane. I'd press a few buttons and probably crash it into the terminal. It verges on comical.hands down one of the worst footballers I've ever seen.

Probably for his height which did help with defending corners. Other than Cags, who's not the tallest of CBs, we have a team of dwarf's. Saying that he's useless at challenging for headers from long balls when attackers are backing into him.

Interesting to read the original transfer links in January 2020, why would the club persist?

made me feel better reading some of those comments. some highlights from the first page:

"He plays like a cross between Slabhead and Lurch from the Addams Family. "

"Deary me. A player we won't want in 18 months time, will struggle to shift and waste money paying him to be on loan at Mainz.

"Has Congerton forgotten that he hasn’t left Sunderland yet? Woeful signing he’s average, Southampton fans already laughing at us"

"If this is true, this is why we had worries over Congerton and Rodgers on recruitment. The man is garbage. One of the worst defenders in the league in the last few years."

"He has two advantages: His height and his strength. Other than that, a rather mediocre defender. Slow and not mobile at all."

"He got hooked at half time in the 9-0! Who has looked at that and thought gerrimin?"

Just watched the goals back and mother of god what is he thinking for the first and third. To call it Sunday league would be insult to Sunday league.
