Plus, at the end of the day, we knew from his interview on Thursday that Barnes wasn't likely to play 90. As soon as he comes off we pretty much can't play 433, we've got no wingers.

Why do you need wingers? Wide forwards maybe.

Salah and Sane aren't wingers but play wide, defend at times and are a constant threat. Their usual fullbacks (like Ricardo, Castagne, Thomas and JJ) are able to rampage forward due to a hard working midfield.

Madrid used to play 433 slightly different with Benzema slightly withdrawn of the other 2 Vicinius and Ascensio. With a midfield of Kroos, Valdeverde and Modric, they had a midfield that could work all day and their forwards never needed to defend.

We had 40m of great new talent and last seasons top scorer on the bench yesterday. A midfield 3 of Ndidi, Tielemans and Soumare is awesome and for the front three perm any 3 from a 4 of Vardy, Barnes, Iheanacho and Daka. Maddison and the spare forward could remain on the bench as an impact and change of tactics if required (the hip gets to heal also). That midfield are well capable of covering any fullback runs from deep.

Perez tried hard yesterday but is still a weak link. In the above scenario we don't even need him.

We won! Yay! Yes it was a bit nervy at times but 3 points thank you very much! How great was it to see Vards scoring again and that celebration 😂😂 love him! First days nerves by some and back in front of a crowd for the first time in a very long time. Last minutes changes I suspect too with Ryan out.  Good to get that first game and win done now let's get to the next one. Its going to be a great season!

I think what he’s trying to say is we need a player desperately who has the ability to drift out wide and take the ball up the pitch as well as having to ability to come inside on a left foot.

Wingers are a thing of the past I think, I class Albrighton as a winger, someone who looks to get the ball into the box. But is is something we desperately need, it’s not heavy criticism of Perez but he can’t do that, he’s not a wide forward or a winger, a number of occasions Riccy needed someone to make that run into the channel, it never came. And at the moment as an attacker Maddison has two options, find Barnes or find Vardy….. it’s the final part of the puzzle, and it will give us an extra dimension to our game.

You have just described Matheus Pereira. We wouldn't pay for his services.

I said Ricardo would play on the right wing and what a performance from him. He's so good when he gets down the line.

He just made Mugs of the 2 Wolves players with his trickery. Vardy showing the new boy Daka how it's done and what a finish from him.

These are they type of games we could lose a few years ago. Wolves will be a tough side to beat this season so they could do us a few favors.

Now we're able to find a way to win which bodes well for the Team. Though some of Brendan's decisions seem a bit strange again.

All in all a win is 3 points and that's what matters.

Good interview, explains why he switched the system.

"I felt in that system (the 343) it can really stretch you. In the first game of the season you aren't at your full fitness, so the 352 can block up the space and give you two strikes when you break out."

I think in theory the switch made sense but the reality was that it turned into more of a deep lying 532 and we lost the battle in the middle of the park as Wolves extra man plus Jimenez dropping into the hole left us hugely overrun in midfield. I don't know whether it was an issue with getting the messages across to the players but the full backs were way too deep. We'd have been better off switching to a 451 and bringing Albrighton and Praet on to play in the wide positions and one of Soumare or KDH to sure up the middle.

Anyone know what happened with the muppets scrapping on the approach to Upperton Road post game? Seemed like a prat in a grey shirt with a cut eyebrow was being a bit of a nuisance.

There’s other players in the world of football besides Pereira…..

Have a look at this beauty of a review 😂

“Daniel Amartey outshone Jamie Vardy for Leicester City”

Stopped reading at:

The Foxes’ talismanic striker found the back of the net just before half-time thanks to an extremely well-taken header following Ricardo Pereira’s cross from the right-hand side.

Only watched MOTD and online commentary

But did our subs on the hour, taking both Perez and Maddison off for more defensive players put extra pressure on ourselves, almost shooting ourselves in the foot. I think we were level on shots before but 0-9 on shots afterwards or was this approach needed to get the 3 points?

Tried to change the system and go with a 3-5-2 as we were getting over run in the middle. I'd argue getting Maddison off was a positive change, Perez offered a bit in winning the ball back further up and linked well with Ricky P in places but frequently wondered off into the middle of the park leaving us with little option on that wing. Majority of attempts came from us continuing to try and play out and turn over possession cheaply. Certainly didn't look any better in the 3-5-2 and ran out of ideas with regards to getting the ball forward.

We've had an issue with slow starts at the beginning of the second half for a couple of seasons now (or more). It's all a bit weird handing the momentum to the opposition and yesterday we never managed to entirely claw it back. It's as if the tactics from the half time team talk are still going through their minds and are distracted from the game. Could've cost us yesterday.

I know what you mean but that wasn't the case at West Brom and Man city last season.

Regards yesterday, we had 5 defenders oot and all the other 5 took part including our least best 2, plus Jan, so I think Rodgers was playing it careful seeing as injuries last season prevented us from doing better than we did.

.. it always feel like we are a one half team!!!

If we play well in the first half we are poor in the second and the same goes for us playing poorly in the first half.

We still failing to get the early breakthrough at the start of games and we need to get back to that.

The atmosphere dropped yesterday as we were struggling to get the goal to lift the place, it is very much dictated by what is going on on the pitch.

I remember going to a match against United and the sang all the way through the game, quite an amazing thing to listen to.

We wouldn't pay 30 mil (or was it 25 mil) quid for his "services" - and apparently no one else in EPL (or any one of the Top 5 leagues) would.

Never knew how much wolves hate us, quite a few anti Leicester chants on the way home 😂good job we won.

A bit disrespectful. I doubt any other clubs will give them free beer pre-match.

Apparently so. On the Wolves forum one even claimed to have had two after rubbing the ink stamp off his hand.
