women's voices don't seem suited to commentary, yes it's a controversial opinion.

Nah, I've always thought this. I think the women are much better at summarising and presenting. Jacqui Oakley has been very good over the years and there's a few on Sky that are good at summarising a game. I also think Kelly Dalglish is the best presenter at Sky. But I don't enjoy women commentary.

Was disappointed they didn't show that lovely team move with Youri's dummy sending the opponent somewhere only he knows.

I know it broke down up front but it was great stuff.

I'll stop banging on about it,now, though...  :P

Pretty sure that at the end when they flash up the match stats at the bottom they announced the attendance as 13 thousand

Yep noticed that too. A poor typo lol

It was on the website as 13k. They got the 1 and 3 the wrong way round. Bit like the match report saying Vardy scored a header :dunno:

I know they're probably limited for time but the highlights were very light.

Didn't show either of the disallowed goals which, apart from the goal, were the major incidents in the game.

I'm guessing here but as we were the only game with just a goal in it, the others all had more, that is why we were on last for the Saturday games, Brentford v Arsenal on the Friday night is normally the final game on MOTD as the game is already 24 hours after and most would've seen highlights by then. So not much footage of ours as you said time would've been running out.

The only time I think a Friday game has been pushed further forward was our 9-0 at Southampton.

I still think instead of going over the game after the highlights, (more so for the so called big teams), they should show more highlights from the actual match, but I don't know what the contract is, maybe the highlights can only be so many minutes long, hence they talk about points in the match for quite some time.

Vardy's disallowed goal was shown in the after game analysis. Didn't show the Wolves one but I could see it was offside from the Kop

Mel Jones, the Aussie lass doing the Test match at Lords, is absolutely superb. Apart from her comments, she also has a perfect voice for broadcasting. Some people don’t. Who was that woman ITV used at the Euros? She had the dullest voice I’ve ever heard.

Oh god Emma Hayes is literally the worst Ive ever seen. Im all for good women in the game, Laura Woods, Natalie Sawyer, Alex scott, Kelly Dalglish etc but some of the rubbish they have put on recently, doesnt help my opinion but their doing it to tick a box.

I found Emma hayes tactically insightful compared to some of the blokes

Remember seeing either BBC or ITV tv vans outside the main stand as the ground came into view after walking down Western Boulevard.

We used to think great, we're on MOTD tonight  (or Star Soccer tomorrow)

IIRC,  MOTD showed the main match and one other in those days,  the only analysis was from Jimmy Hill. Star Soccer would show one match from this region and a few minutes from another tv region if it featured a Midlands side.

As you say Hugh John's would commentate and Billy Wright would interview the manager or goal scorer.

Gosh! I feel old.

I honestly thought she was absolutely awful. Waffled on about rubbish, interrupted the main commentator and her tone of voice is just not made for commentary.

It was the first time that I watched the game on mute because it was ruining the coverage.

She's literally one of the most respected coaches in the women's game (and is extremely well regarded in football generally) and recently received a vast amount of critical acclaim after her appearances as a pundit during the Euros. She's about as far away from being there to tick a box as you can get.

Agree with this. They don't capture the craziness and hype of some of the Arabic commentators I listen to.

What box is being ticked to let Sounness or most of these ex-footballs to prop-up the end of their careers talking BS and slapping each other on the back in front of a camera? Nobody asks, what box is being ticked when it's some male (white) footballer. You get some tired ex-footballer on some these channels repeat the same words we've heard for years. It's just lazy. They'll talk about how important a team needs competition for places. That logic should also apply to their jobs imo. Get them off the gravy train. What EXACTLY does Lineker bring to BBC sport that makes the money they pay him justified? I welcome a lot of these female commentators coming into the industry because they'll kick some of the stagnant old guard out or force them to do better.

I think she was too but some I think thought she waffled on a bit too much?

With Emma Hayes, it was just an impossible voice to listen to, irrespective of her insights. Just truly monotonous.
