Starting to think maybe (just maybe mind) we should have rinsed Arsenal for Maddison, which might have allowed us to get a couple of players in that were higher up the list options. Feel free to disagree.

Arsenal are a joke but they’ve already done the transfer some years ago where they buy a crock - they won’t do that again

As a back-up for Barnes, he’s a very decent option to have, I’m in full agreement with those that say he looked good in a poor Fulham side last season. All his goal/assist contributions though, came from when he played on the left. Everton tried him on the RW, ended up selling him. Leipzig have tried him on the RW, they keep getting shut of him.

A starting RW is the missing piece of our jigsaw, yet it doesn’t look like we’re going to rectify it. Looks like Rodgers is more than happy to stick with Perez, when we know full well that he’ll continue to contribute poorly and get subbed on 60 minutes.

Failing to get a starting RW could be the difference of whether we make top six.

Bingo!!!

I shall take heed of the naysayers on here , like I did over Bertrand before he kicked a ball for us!

He’s not the messiah but I think he’ll put in some shifts and come out of the season with respect from our fans.

bit like when we signed Nathan Dyer.

He’ll get absolutely taken out scoring a goal and he’ll earn our respect

Would be very happy with that, to be honest, but is there another a scenario that doesn’t require an injury, haha? We already have a lot of those!

He clearly has some talent and we happen to have one of the best coaches in the business…

I’m ok with this personally

Leipzig bought Lookman for £16.2m, what salary would you think he'd be on?

Choudhury has came through the academy. Academy players are notoriously poorer paid because they don't have bargaining leverage unless they're established first team players. When Choudhury signed his last contract he'd played 17 PL over two seasons mainly as sub. He was also probably on a few thousand a week so was in no position to demand £60k a week.

You can't compare Lookman's leverage to Choudhury's. If the club really did pay a squad player who came through the academy 60k a week then someone needs sacking. More likely he's on about 30k a week.

🤣🤣🤣

But what has our 'scouting' teams been doing all these months?  Surely they have a list of potentials to pass to coaching and recruitment.  Ric Flair needs to appointed to head of scouting.

Of course they do. They probably have insanely detailed stats on loads of players. They’ll have lists in order of priority for every position and as replacements for every player that might leave.  Doesn’t mean they’ll all be available at a particular time, or that an acceptable deal can be struck if they are available.

We never had an offer for Maddison or any contact with Arsenal about him. You can't refuse what you haven't been offered.

I think the problem is many expected a right winger who would improve our best XI, but the club has instead gone for a back up left sided player. So expectations have been wrong/too high.

Im underwhelmed but primarily because I was wrong about the type of player I thought we were going to get. This is more sensible arguably. Hopefully he does well deputising for Barnes when needed, I think he is good enough for that role. Good dribbler, not a dissimilar type of player to Barnes in that he runs with the ball at defenders directly.

People are disappointed because they were expecting an upgrade on Perez, and that isn’t happening.

Would not be surprised if we bought him in a year, can do well competing with Barnes.

I get it - so we may end up with a left winger when we have been searching for a right winger for God knows how long.

If that video was of some unknown from the depths of the French leagues we'd all be wetting ourselves

Some lovely left footed crosses and passes too

Literally NO LEFT FOOT.

Scored a decent goal against us last season so it makes sense that he could be on the radar.

Could we be going down the Chelsea and Man City route of buying up anyone we see as a threat or competition, ‘diluting’ the competition?

I mean when we signed Perez I was delighted because he always seemed to score against us, if we sign him he can score against us for another club can he?

Unfortunately, he’s still a thorn in our side though.

Lookman is a solid player not a star player but hey we have those and he has a good fitness record which for us at the moment is vital. Another bench option , that gives us Vardy, Iheanacho, Barnes, Daka, and him up front. That seems sound enough to me. Our priority now is getting a solid defensive unit , that will be the determining factor in whether we make the top six.

Maybe but we need creativity and goals and we kinda needed that from the right hand side where we are limited.

So far we have caused more trouble down the right than the left. A combination of Pereira,Castagne and JJ ,when fit, should make us pretty well covered there. Personally I would play Iheanacho on the right side , but Albrighton rarely let's you down.

Apart from Albrighton who's second string choice, none of those are wingers.
