I have a feeling this lad will be a decent signing! He’s exciting and perfect for Rodgers to develop. Don’t get me wrong we all wanted madueke, berardi etc but we are getting lookman so that’s back him.

People don't actually watch the way we play though, so how can you expect them to notice that 3 of our 4 goals have come from the right so far this season :dunno:

We don't actually need an old fashioned right winger, not with the style and tactics that Rodgers sets us up with. Whether or not you agree with that is another discussion.

When we attack, we often switch to a back 3. Ricky and Barnes become our wide players, Perez tucks in with Maddison creating the space put wide.

I'm not saying this is why we're apparently signing Lookman, but if he does replace Perez, him and Maddison with free (ish) roles behind the front man could be dangerous.

Don't get me wrong, I too would like to see a good left footed, right sided attacker, because it gives us the option to switch things up, but Lookman would give us a couple of different options, just not the ones most of us want and/or were expecting

You are wasting your time on the blinkered "we need a right winger" brigade though!

Very good post as was the one you responded too 👍

For the one millionth time, this is not how football transfers work.

Brendan Rodgers hasn't "purchased" anyone.

Nah mate, like going to a nightclub and pulling Micheal Gove

Good grief, cannot be unseen!

But I'm gonna raise you in terms of political stature, and crimes against rhythm...

I understand your opinion , but to come to the conclusion this must be arrogance on the part of Rodgers is tenuous.  it strikes me of conformation bias.

Yeah I was probably a little blasé about it. Fair point

Underwhelming, exactly the type you look to when the best options are snapped up or you just can't lure them in.

He’s underwhelming if we were looking for a RW, since he’d be third choice in that position for us, but as backup to Barnes on the left I think he’s a good option. Prefer him to James.

But yet another year goes by when we fail to replace Mahrez, and it’s another year with Perez as first choice in RW.

fair enough mate, I think we will go for a right winger just might well be next year.  and i don't think any one will disagree this is somewhere we can improve but its a balancing act and maybe he cant get the funds for both.

At this point, I think we will only fill the RW hole left by Mahrez, with a much older Mahrez!

Why are people assuming that he’ll be second choice RW behind Perez? Have you not seen perez play on the right? Lookman will be first choice ahead of Perez any day. Perez’s will a useful player to have as backup to Maddison off the bench.

He won't be either because he's a left winger.

I think it's quite an exciting signing to be honest.

For all Barnes quality, he can be absent some games and i think as an opposition player, come the trade mark 70th minute Rodgers substitution, you would be worried with him coming on against your tired legs.

Also, if we are pushing for a good finish in all competitions, that's a lot of games to field a good squad. Squad depth is important and that is exactly what this signing would be.

Trincao looks good for Wolves. Would have slotted in perfectly in our team. Shame that boar has sailed.

As back up to Barnes it is a good signing, but when we clearly need a first team quality player on the right wing I do see it as underwhelming if that is plan for him

IF the plan is to use him on the right I will give him a chance of course as he can't be any worse than Perez, but it isn't the kind of signing that from the start make you think we may have finally filled that role (such as Berardi, Neres etc. would)

Lookman will be 3rd choice on the right IMO, behind Perez and Albrighton. He is a left winger and doesn’t have the skill set to play a similar role to Perez. He is pretty similar to Barnes, but since he is heavily right footed if we want him to to cut in then it will be on the left wing.

It makes sense though we have 3 options on the right if you include Periera and only one on the left. Barnes needs a backup.

I just wish it was a left footed right winger that could fill in on the left when needed, rather than the opposite 🙁

Perez at RW all season is making me clinically depressed to be honest. Fook Lookman, Fook this window.

When we have enough defenders fit to play, I expect we will go 352, so Nacho can start with Vardy, and Daka in rotation.

Ricardo/Castagne will be the Right Wing backs

I understand Lookman is ok backup on the left but we all know that we need a RW. We need backup on left but the right for me the right needs addressing more in our starting XI. if You think otherwise then I’m fine with it. No need to respond with another non productive comment pal.

Bit arrogant that is, pal!
