Our lack of creativity is quite concerning. It's not like we don't have the players to address it. Our only long term injuries are defenders.

We are just far to slow with our passing and it gives teams time to get back in shape. We have zero penetration to break lines. We thread nothing through the lines .

Honestly to be so close on xG when they had a penalty that shouldn’t have been and 2 offside goals isn’t really that bad is it? On another day with competent refs we’d have a comfortably higher xG I’m sure.

Created far more with Lookman on either way, the link up between him, Ricardo and Tielemans was looking good.

Get about 0.8xg for a penalty don't you?

We move the ball pain staking slowly. All our best play comes when we speed it up.

The amount of times there's a really clear pass for Ndidi, Soyuncu, Kasper, the full backs, etc and they ponder and take the safe route.

Vestergaard is the only one defensively who actually plays quick, incisive passes that pick up the speed of the move.

You can see we try to do it. But when we start getting pressured and our confidence takes a knock we always revert to type. We are quite a unique outfit at the min. We can't maintain our dominance against lower sides and we let them sneek in with terrible defensive errors . But today was mostly awful by var

Barnes had zero impact on that second bugger. That was the most frustrating part. Almost threw my iPad out the window

We play too many short passes in our build up play. Going long and badly contesting the second ball creates more problems for the opposition than our build up

Does he? Plays some great balls through the lines but he's just taken the Evans role of pondering on the ball the majority of the time. We've also lost Soyuncu's ability to drive forward with the ball.

Thing is, the pace of play is so obviously a problem and appreciate we can't necessarily play 90 mins as the speed of the last 30 today but we should be having spells at that tempo consistently over the whole game.

Agree with the slow passing and build up. The first time we played quick football, we scored today and the more we did it the more Brighton couldn't cope. We dont even do long balls anymore unless it's a switch of play. The fact we have still one of the fastest strikers and barely gave him a chance to race with Duffy or Dunk in behind is just weird.

I'm not sure if this down to Rodgers or the players being scared to lose the ball or unfit? I've seen us play the exact same way and have the same problem with the last couple of coaches so it is puzzling.

The lack of creativity is directly related to playing an ageing Vardy as the sole striker. We have looked far more dangerous and created more when playing two up top right from pre-season up to now. Two up top gives us movement and spaces to pass to. It’s infuriating that we are persevering with this for 60m per game.

We have this system of playing the ball from the back which teams are successfully defending against. Thus the ball doesn't move quicker enough and the central midfielders can't get the space. Sometimes you just have to aim for the wingers and win that second ball.

Every team in the country is a lot better when you win the ball higher up the pitch. Rodgers emphases 'control' and avoiding 'basketball games' - I could simply argue our players are far better playing in those games with lots of transitions.

I’m not sure the same arguement holds for this game, we created plenty in the second half and most of their xG comes from a wrong penalty decision, we created today and were robbed by the officials

Rounded up, yeah. When you take that into account, as well as our xG likely being within the 20 minute spell that we actually tried to play, it's a positive sign. Even so, it remains to me seen whether or not Rodgers can make the right calls and play those with a point to prove.

Why would our players be terrified though? These are still mostly the same players who blew teams away in 19/20.

It is an area of concern, but that last 30 it looked like we could have scored a ton of goals. Maddison is woefully out of form, but 4231 with Nacho as the 10 and Looman as the 7 or 433 with Lookman I think will sort it.

After going down 2-0 it's not like we gave up. We attacked the game and deserved to get something. So it's not all doom and gloom. For me before today's game I don't think we knew what our best team is. Now I think we can narrow it down to one of two options.

I think today's xG is quite a bit skewed by the refereeing!

For example, take away Brighton's penalty, and their xG falls to around 0.9, and include at least one of disallowed goals and ours rises to 2. So cause for optimism despite the result.

But it does show the issues we've had in previous matches.

There is an old adage, "If you don't buy a ticket, you won't win the raffle".

We don't pass forward, we don't move forward, we don't go forward...there is your ticket, that why we don't create anything.

High possession stats from exclusive sideways and backwards football contained within our own half though! :brendan::vardy::riyad::schmike:

Said it last season and seeing it this season, to much pissing about at the back and far to slow at moving the ball forward.

Rodgers needs to play the players that are going to give 110% and bench or clear out the dead wood.

😂😂😂 they are playing Brendans game the way he wants it.

Now teams have sussed it out we have no answer, well Brendan doesn't.

He is a great manager but has no evolution so is being read.

Not a problem up north when no one can compete but in the prem they can. Time for a game change or new manager.
