It’s largely down to positive tests. Being vaccinated doesn’t have an impact as I know a few people who are triple jabbed and have had the latest strain of COVID twice!

Basically, it’s still spreading regardless of being jabbed, so if there’s a positive test you have to isolate regardless of you being vaccinated.

It's not an argument about wether or not you can still get/spread if triple vaccinated but rather adhering to government guidelines. If I'm not mistaken, you don't need to isolate if in contact with someone who's tested positive (unless you live with them) if you have triple vac but do need to isolate if you haven't.

I have no interest in getting in a debate about the pros and cons of vaccines and how affective it is. I'm just wondering wether or not it's government guidelines that are causing games to be called off rather than people testing positive as it presents some complications in my opinion.

Close contacts have to test themselves but if negative they can go about their business though LFD tests are recommended.

Triple jabs reduce the chance of infection and serious illness very significantly but they don’t eliminate it entirely.

Gutted about this as was looking foward to watching the NYD match.

I get it's probably a blessing in disguise regarding our injuries but I still feel we could field a good enough side to turn these over.

We are coming off the back of a great win, and these are literally cannon fodder.

Have the guidelines changed then with regards to contact? As it was my understanding that provided you are negative and have been in contact with someone with the virus you’re okay to crack on? Even if you live with someone who’s got it?

Doubt it as they will rearrange them for later on

Rodgers mentioned today that the PL have been looking to rearrange the games for January where there is more space

Only if you’re double jabbed …..

If there are any players out there who haven’t been jabbed and are contributing to players being missed and games being postponed (due to having to isolate) then that’s a joke. Anyone not jabbed who is subsequently unavailable shouldn’t be counted and the games should go ahead. It’s then down to the clubs to convince the idiots to get their vaccine.

Except the 'vaccine' doesn't stop you contracting, testing positive, or spreading the disease...

The whole seasons a farce really isn't it? I know there's meant to be a criteria for games being called off but it all seems completely random to me

Random? But isn't this  the same people who administer VAR?  That's not random at all.... Is it.... 🙄

I suspect I'm in the minority here (which isn't a problem) but I'm frankly relieved the fixture has been called off. A whole extra week off could do wonders for niggles, knocks and so forth, and the players were flat out after Liverpool.

Honestly the best scenario for us. Next game is 8 days away from now, then another weeks break, then another, then internationals.

My first thoughts were we need to get this game played but after really thinking about it, I don’t want another crystal palace from last year. We are in a position now where we need to win almost every game against lower end clubs to give us any hope of a top 8 finish.

This could allow us to play 1 less game without Vardy, daka, soyuncu and evans  and despite an amazing performance I feel like our luck has been used up.

I think the issue is, if this gets squeezed back into January, we’ll potentially be missing Amartey, N’Didi and Iheanacho. Also Mendy, as we could have added him back into the squad.

For balance if we play these re-arranged games in Jan.

Norwich lose no one.

Everton lose Iwobi and Gbamin.

Tottenham lose no one.

We are immediately in a clearly disadvantage position.

If the Premier league has set a precedent early on, like other sports / leagues and awarded the fixture to the team

not cancelling, I think we’d have seen fixtures player. Teams have an entire U23 / Reserve list of players that they can utilise. Manchester City did it a few years ago when they had an injury crisis and Pep had a bench full of U18s.

Also, the fact AFCON is happening anyway, baffles me.

We should be flogging unvaccinated players if we have some and then taking a swerve of any that aren’t double jabbed.

I think it's the fact it's Norwich that people are disappointed, as its 3 points most of us would be confident of getting.

If it was West Ham, for example, I think fans would be happy it's called off as we would need to have a nearly full strength and fit squad to complete, which we haven't.

Exactly this. There is also the chance that by playing Norwich we sustain yet even more injuries to our players which would really be disastrous. This way we can at least keep fit players fresh and just maybe add one or two when we resume the league fixtures.

The postponement will give us a chance to get players back fit but like others have mentioned we will be losing just as many through AFCON anyway.

Additionally, it felt like we were just about to pick up some momentum and we probably had enough fit to face Norwich and do a job even with the players out. All of these fixtures will have to be played at some point and unless they extend the season I can quite easily see them coming at a time which is even less convenient for us. So it may be far from a blessing. New Year’s Day will also be quite boring now without anything to watch!

Though it’s unsurprising, it’s such a shame that the FA has been completely blindsided by an ongoing pandemic. There should’ve been rules set out clearly before the restart which indicated a threshold for calling games off and which set out a guide for rescheduling them. They just make the rules up as they go along and never think about the impact on the integrity of the competition. Some teams will get harshly done by and some teams will win big - this is seemingly also their approach to refereeing! They should implement an ethics and integrity committee and stick me at the top! :D

But not to Italy or France...
