So think the team will probably be:

Schmeichel

Albrighton Soyuncu Vestergaard Thomas

Soumaré

Tielemans KDH

Maddison

Daka Lookman

Subs: Ward, Jakupovic/Stolarczyk, Daley-Campbell, Brunt, Justin, Choudhury, McAteer, Pérez, Barnes

A similar shape to Liverpool in the League Cup, before Cags got injured. You've got to play KDH and Maddison if fit, but then a midfield three of those two + Tielemans is probably not strong enough, nor provides enough cover at set-pieces, so Soumaré comes in too. Enough on the bench to change it going forwards if we want a different option. Can see him maybe starting Hamza over Soumaré but don't think we have the options to go 3atb without Justin being fully fit or throwing Brunt in.

Not got the options for 3 atb? I wanna see johnny afro at the back in place of go go gadget neck.

Bring it on!

This on sky or was it one of the Amazon games? I've lost track.

Unfortunately it will be Vestergaard and Soyuncu, but no doubt the latter will go off during the first half (hamstring) hopefully the couple weeks out will have reset Soyuncu's mind and he can get back to previous levels. Could stick with Choudhury in there but I'd be surprised. Maybe he will go full Rodgers and play Hamza alongside the other two in a back 3 lol

We can dominate the midfield with Soumare, Tielemans and Dewsbury-hall. Maddison in a free role. And Lookman gets the nod alongside Daka for me.

Pre-Match Press Conference vs Spurs

Premier League rules over postponed games?

“The rules are clear. For the Premier League, you have to have 13 plus a goalkeeper, so there is enough clarity. It doesn’t say the guys out have to be Covid. The rules are there and clear.”

Rules need changing?

“I think there will be. We are clear on where we are now. We were shown in a managers’ meeting that it will hit different areas at different times, and different parts of the country will be hit. Lots of players are injured because they are having to play more. The Premier League have tried to be as fair as they can. And then there’s Under-23s if they are experienced enough. We played the FA Cup game but then we couldn’t play the next game because we didn’t have the players. You have to play the games towards the end of the season.”

Fitness?

“The ones who were available for our last game, Dewsbury-Hall, Thomas, Soyuncu, Daka, Justin. Those guys are available and now they have been able to train more, which is good.”

Soumare and Castagne?

“Bouba has come back from illness and has trained the last couple of days. Timothy has had an operation so he is eight to nine weeks. He had an issue with his thigh and he needed to go and have an operation. The blood kept returning to his thigh, so we had to have an operation quickly to sort that.”

Fixtures crammed in later?

“We have one tomorrow night so that’s one of our games. We all accept it. You know you’re going to have to go in, and if you have your squad, and hopefully the injuries will be picked up, then we can get on it.”

Justin?

“We just have to manage JJ over the second half of the season. He’s worked so hard over the past year. He’s done remarkably well. He’s had a couple of bouts of illness. He looks great on the training field. We’ll put him in when we feel it’s the right time.”

Centre-back loan?

“It’s something we will look at. We’ve got two games before the break and we get some players back in February. It’s something we’re looking at as a club.”

Everton job - not linked for once?

“You know in this role that there is always gossip. You are always disappointed for another manager when he loses a job. He’s a fantastic manager. We know where we’re at in terms of results. They are on the lookout for another manager.”

Young players?

“I’ve always said at the beginning of the whole process that it would be an opportunity for young players. We had a number of players making debuts. Youth players are very important for us here, it’s a tradition to bring them through here. Hopefully that will continue to be the case.”

Spurs?

“Antonio has come in and given them a stable base. Nuno going in at the beginning of the season was playing a similar style. The players know what they’re playing. They have quality players, but Antonio is renowned for play 3-4-3. They have very good players, so they can play in any system.”

Nevile says games should go on?

“Everyone has an opinion, but unless you’re inside a club, and are privy to the injuries and Covid cases, then it’s probably difficult to say that. Gary will have an opinion and we respect that. All the clubs are working to get the games on.”

Young players can be disappointed if games not going ahead when they're available?

“It depends on how you frame it. We have young players coming in now like Dewsbury-Hall, and his timeline is that he went out on loan. You have to be careful. Not every U23 player is ready for Premier League football and you don’t want to destroy a career. Development is different for players. We will look to play young players at the right time. We have been able to do that in the FA Cup.”

Justin?

“It’s like having a new signing, but we have to keep an eye on him. He’s available, and he has sustained a level of fitness. He’s got confidence in that.”

Fans?

“They are critical for us. You saw on that night what a great atmosphere it was. It starts on the field and you have to show bravery and intensity. It’s both synchronised together. The supporters have to see the players playing with quality and that gets them going in the stands. We look forward to the challenge as always.”

How many will that norris score for them tomorrow? When was the last time we played them at home and he didn't score? Was it when he actually played for us on loan?

That is a good team but I think KDH is too important not to play

Would we dare go with this back four to accommodate him?

It a worry, I would like to think there has to be a game he doesn't score against us at some point.

I’m going for 3cbs with soy, vesty and Hamza, wbs  of Thomas and Kevin, CMs of youri and KDH and a front 3 of Daka with Barnes and lookman either side.

He didn't score in either games in the title winning season.

As good as Lookman was against Liverpool, if it means playing him on the right flank then I'd leave him on the bench ready to come on for Barnes on the left after the hour mark.
