Play until we lose? Hard not to be bitter about it especially when we often get very little added time even when it is actually called for. 
 

So many questions about individual mistakes and tactical errors. As soon as Veste missed the header vs Kane I kind of knew it was all over but I didn’t expect to lose even then

They finally got to grips with them after the hour mark, but Tielemans was the biggest culprit today. We got overrun in midfield and it wasn't KDH's fault. The last goal is a complete meltdown by Youri. As much as we can laud him, that was unforgivable.

its whataboutism though mate, we didn't lose by 7 - we were moments away from winning 2-1. thats football - yes they peppered the goal, hit the bar, etc. but we're made up of a rag-tag bunch of players out of position. we'd done well to weather their attacks, rode our luck a bit BUT we should, absolutely SHOULD have won that 2-1 if not for some absolute ****ing idiocy from a couple of players.

Anyone criticising the boys after that needs to follow a different sport.

 

Burgwyn shouldn’t have been on the pitch but went on to score 2.

 

We played 105 seconds more than the officials stated.

 

There was a clear handball and no VAR check.

 

I find it difficult to not call the ref and VAR cheats.

Tielemans isn't up for it I'm afraid.  Mentally performance wise he reminds me a lot of Drinkwater before he left.  Just not up to it.

Exactly. If that was Man city or Liverpool they commit fouls on purpose to stop the opposition. It isn't nice but it is what professionals do. They take one for the team. we're far too nice I'm afraid.

This. We get so nervous when trying to defend a lead. As you say, we seem to just want to clear. We should not be thinking about “game management”. This may be what the players get nervous about. Just play our normal game. We should not just be defending when we have the lead. We should always be defending but also more importantly attacking at the same time.

 

In fairness, we did try to go forward. That Barnes did not pass to Lookman in hindsight costed us this game. We could have been 3-1 up.
