Why are we offering out full backs if we were desperate to sign Bertrand?

Reading the article, it suggests to me his agent has offered him out

Absolutely no sale! He has suffered with injuries and his shoulder has clearly been an issue hopefully his surgery and also surgery apparently on his shoulder will sort the niggles out. I like Timmy, he is versatile and we certainly should not be offering players like him for sale when there are others that should certainly be going first.

His injury issues make it very tempting to sell. Last season he got 2 injuries that stunted his rhythm here after looking promising and then this season up to this lengthy spell out he just seemed to be nowhere near the level of last season. No goals, no assists and 2 or 3 really poor defensive mistakes that led to goals, I'd not be that gutted to lose him.

Sell for what we paid for him and get Calvin Ramsay in for a quarter of the cost.

He's non-stop injured. We knew this when he came in and it's not gone away, he's either always carrying something or is 2 games away from some sort of issue. I doubt it'll miraculously stop.

Praet is deemed surplus by the manager. Youri is probably off in the summer. The three Belgians were all brought in around the same time so would be likely they'd all be off together too.

He's a good player, above average for this division. His versatility is a huge asset. But if he wants a return to Italy and a large amount of money presents itself we should let him go.

Surely we need to keep him. Yes he’s had injury problems this season which obviously has impacted his form, but for me he is still an important player who can play on either side. There’s plenty of players who could leave (some by choice), but I hope he won’t be one of them.

....I feel the dual position is one if not the main cause of his form for us!!!

He came here for a specific role, he has been shunted around constantly, I would think he would be relieved to get away, he seems a nice bloke.

It’s interesting that this story has arisen after JJ makes his come back from injury..

And a very accomplished comeback it was too.  We have missed him!

All the Belgians to leave in the summer?

None of them really fit with Rodgers' preferred style.

Decent utility player, nothing more really.

If we get good money, I’d be happy to let him go.

Anywhere near what we paid and I think he will be gone.

If he expressed a desire to leave, and we could get a decent fee, then I'm onboard if we've got a replacement lined up, but he's currently part of the squad, and when fit, covering a number of positions as a sub if needed, and when we need to rotate.

We are still light on players in the squad and will need to squeeze a lot of consecutive games in where we'll still need to utilise the entire team.

This obsession some have of, get rid, he's no use to the first team, is mind-boggling. Or on linked players, don't want, cos they always expect us to buy/loan a first-teamer. That's quite the negative approach to building a squad.

We've been decimated this season, and whilst Timbo hasn't been amazing, neither has half our squad.

Wouldnt be fussed for the right price. Quite frustrating that he can never pick up any form with the constant injuries

And for that reason alone, im

not sure why his agent would think a big Italian team woood be interested in him..

Really sad when it wasn't that long ago many were saying build the team around them!

I would have to question his reputation as a utility player at Premiership level to be honest. Yes, he can fill in at left back but certainly isn't capable of attacking much on that side, he can merely do a steady job if needed. I don't think he's as naturally good as Thomas there even at his young age.

As a centre half he was dreadful and his stats shown by pundits at halftime when he played there backed that up.

I do think he's a very decent right back but again, not a good wingback. If Ricardo was fit however, I think the latter is far better. I also think JJ is already better and he also has the ability to play as a right or left wingback.

Add that all together and I think if everyone was actually fit, he'd merely be a very good squad player. Therefore, if offered good money for him, to sell would have to be a consideration depending upon how else or where we could utilise the money when added to that we'll possibly get from the sale of Tielemans which is looking highly likely.

It’s about squad investment and I’ve said it since last season, he’s okay, however people were raving like he was at the same level as Ricardo pre injury.

If we can get the right price, he’s the most sellable in terms of value now and disposability. Fullback wise we’ve got JJ, Thomas, Ricardo, VDC.

Realistically, we’re looking at mid table this season. £18m-ish and we can maybe invest that in a centre back that is a problem position currently, or utilise that cash to fund wages for some of the other players that need contracts renewing.
