He would be keen on that, he could stay living in Cov that way. From what his mate has told me he doesn’t want a massive commute unless it was a move over seas. So London or Manchester/Liverpool are three likely destinations for him. Newcastle would just be too far.

We won’t get 60m with one year left on his deal.

We will with who will want him. All the top 6 would take him and therefore we set the price and see which one flinches.

That's the move that makes him an England regular. Going to Newcastle doesn't give him that. Working with a world-class manager, regular European experience and the pressure of consistently having to perform sees him become one of the best No10's in Europe, hands down. Would not begrudge him that move at all.

We would if we sold him today.

I'd take a 15m loss just to keep him for the rest of this season though

That depends whether the Sheikhs go into a bidding war with each other. City never had any competition for Mahrez andmade it clear early on what their limit was but if they think they're losing out to a rival it could be more interesting.

In any case I wish Maddison the best. His peak form has been a joy to watch for 12 months.

if we can get £45/50 mil ill be happy tbf, think he'd rather go Man City than Newcastle to work under Pep too, plus he'll get in the england squad more

Wouldn’t think there would be a bidding war, he will just get tapped up that the value a top club could save by waiting 12 extra months could go on wages over 5-6 year deal to them sign on a free on an obscene wage

Hate to say it but probably benefits the England national team too.

Man City and Newcastle both slogging it out for him will absolutely minimise the risk of a lower fee with 1 year left on his deal too.

Exactly. Peps rotation will no doubt suit him as well in keeping injury free.
