I wonder if Rodgers might listen to offers for him now (Ndidi) he’s great at breaking up play but his passing is really suspect and he’s been quite injury prone over the last 2/3 years.

Rodgers may look at bringing a quarter back style CDM who can break up play but also play progressive passes.

I think Villa we’re linked to him for £50M, I would be tempted to accept that tbh.

He's another who's approaching only 2 years left on his contract, been here a long while and isn't hitting the heights he previously has which might make him and the club consider whether a new challenge is needed. Although @Deeg67 is way off, given the above it might be a tall order to get the sort of money we banded around for him when he was colossal for us.

Whatever the long term holds, Rodgers needs to simplify his game again where he breaks up play and destroys anything that comes his way and then gives the ball to the midfielders around him. When he does that he's a monster.

There's a reason big clubs have never been credibly linked to Ndidi, when they routinely come poaching our players.  He just doesn't suit the needs of a possession-based, attacking side that seeks to dominate the midfield - which is what most big clubs are.  He's also on a subpar season, has been frequently injured the past two years, and is down to only two years left on his contract.  I doubt we're looking to sell him but if we're are, we're not sniffing anywhere close to 50 million.  No chance.

They recruit incredibly, we should be all over Jonas Eder and pay him a fortune to come and head up our recruitment.

Camara is class, as is Sucic

I’d happily take six of their players.

Onguene & Solet at CB are beasts. Camara, Seiwald & Sucic are incredible workhorses. Okafor is a pest.

Come on, Ric - 55 million for Ndidi is an absolute fantasy.  The only clubs that could afford that would find him basically unplayable unless they were protecting a lead late.

.. his shortcomings have ruthlessly been exposed, by Rodgers attempt to use him, in a way that does not suit him!!!

Ndidi needs a change of technique if he has to add an increased level to his passing stats. His action in completing the passing motion needs to be altered much like a golfer needs to alter his swing.

He needs a shorter if non-existent backswing in order to punch the ball as opposed to how he currently passes now.

He will have to intensely work on this throughout the break as it needs to become second nature.

We employed him as a specialist, and played him in a way, where he was comfortable and exceptional, not developing his quality on the ball, has been an oversight, but at the time, just something that we really didn't need.

Their recruitment has been incredible. We know we have done well at times ourselves with the likes of Kante, Mahrez, Vardy etc but they are unbelievable at recruitment. They must have made so much money in player sales over the past few years. Even when they lose someone like Haaland they always have another class player ready to replace them. Adeyemi off to Dortmund for around €38m as well this summer.

Possibly one of the worst takes I've ever read on here, fair play to you.

If that helps you, fine.  Let’s wait for those big offers which have oddly never ever emitted a puff of smoke, let alone fire, in all the years Ndidi has been here and more attractive a prospect than he is now.

how do you define a puff of smoke?

He has previously attracted interest from a host of Premier League clubs, including Manchester United and Liverpool, while Spanish giants Real Madrid also sent scouts to monitor the Foxes’ midfielder at the Africa Cup of Nations.

that’s a puff of smoke for me.

£50m is half of what he’s worth.

There is no chance this is true, especially in this climate.

Okay yeah maybe a bit of hyperbole, but we ain’t gonna get anyone who’s as good as Ndidi in his position. He might not be worth £100m in the market but he’s worth £100m to us.

This is the thing isn’t it? The ‘value to us’ in no way represents their value to others, therefore to fill that gap (assuming monetary value to others in all that is available) is impossible. :(

Seeing Ndidi KDH and Maddison in a 3 next year would be ace. But having 2 other midfielders to challenge Ndidi and KDH from the  deeper lying positions is a must. I'd imagine Braybrooke will be eased in.

If the market really is as low as people think we should be upgrading where we can. It’s always a risk that moves don’t work out though. Buy low and sell high. I’d still keep ndidi if he wants to stay and the books balance. He has had dips in form and setbacks before but come back stronger.  A few good acquisitions in key areas to keep the squad fresh is what is needed not wholesale change. It wasn’t long ago that some people on here wanted rid of madders.

pretty sure this guy is full of $hit

He's called a few of our transfers very early though so he's either incredibly lucky or he does get the odd bit of info about us.

The most memorable one sadly was he called Ghezzal all summer whilst very few other outlets linked us to him. Horrible

Interesting news.

I think he should be our number 1 summer target as this position is the only one guaranteed to be in the first team because Tielemans will leave. Sangare has excellent tackling, interception and possession won in the final third stats, and we know he's a great progressive passer. Compared to Tielemans we will miss Youri's finesse and goal threat, but would have a more combative and robust midfield. His height would help defending set pieces too.

My fear is Liverpool go in for him though, he seems perfect for Klopp's midfield system.

Another creative player / right winger would be great too, but if we did not sign one we would still be a real threat next season, whereas if we don't sign a replacement for Youri, we will suffer.

He shouldn’t be viewed as a Youri replacement at all.

Agreed, strikes me as a slightly more technical Wilf.

This is where is comes down to what system we will be favouring and I pray Rodgers and the recruitment team have settled on a preferred system and are recruiting for that.

I think he would be perfect if we go 4-2-3-1 alongside Ndidi. If we are favouring the 4-3-3 like towards the end of the season with Maddison in one of the wide positions, then I agree we would need a more attacking ‘8’ alongside Ndidi and KDH.

Whoever we bring in, I just hope we have a plan for how we want to play and how they fit into the system, something certainly lacking in the last window

I’d agree although think Sangaré is more of a defensive midfielder than anything else. Which is personally why I’d prefer a Berge or RLC type player who would provide that much needed physicality, but also slightly more progressive in terms of their play.

Think a holding 2 of Ndidi and Sangaré for example could become too simplistic and obvious to defend against. But not against this signing if he can be bought for a reasonable price as Hamza and Mendy could feasibly both be off meaning we would need adequate cover/ rotation option for Ndidi.

Possibly, but that is probably a good thing - Wilf hasn't had good competition for a while. Plus he's not going to be back to full fitness for the start of the season, I'd have thought.

I think ur wrong about him , over the last year he does his thing but the midfielders around him have let him down , YOURI gets the ball off him and does nothing with it other than passes it back to ndidi or back to the backs , if we had a midfielder who goes forward more we would see the best off ndidi
