A big ask to go to fortress Roma and hope for a sensible formation. Why not start with 3-5-2? Solid penalty not given against Smalling. Officiating poor to piss-poor. Why wasn't Fofana or Evans man marking Abrahams? That goal gave them the game.

Why take off Lookman for Nacho? Nacho just not sharp enough. Why take off KDH?

What does Tielemans actually do these days - except make sloppy or easy passes?

Positives - Fofana. Madders worked his arse off. KDH combative as ever. It's worth remembering that only one team wins the trophy - we did well to get this far.

Excellent post, agree with all that. Madders, KDH only two players who can hold their heads up high this season, everyone else either inconsistent or largely poor. Fofana is different class, if only he had been available more.

The really upsetting thing is that we’ve actually taken this competition seriously and been pretty good in most games. We then get to the game where it really matters and that’s the shit the players serve up. It’s just no where near the level.

It is so hard to get any momentum in the game when you’re not getting a single decision that you’re due. When there’s no punishment for persistent cynical fouls there’s no incentive for Roma to stop committing them. Getting the corners and throws that you are due helps too. If we’d scored they’d have made up a non existent indiscretion to over rule it, just one big stitch up.

At last some one has seen what I saw tonight ,well said fazzyfox

Taking the emotion out of it, am I the only one that is proud that we controlled the game and looked the better team across two legs imo against a massive club. They had the nous, especially tonight, the diving, screaming bitching etc but I genuinely thought we tried and did play better football than Roma over the two legs. Could I ever imagine saying that sentence when I was a kid in the O'Neill days and obviously after that? Let's not forget how far we have come in such a short space of time.

Ironically we didn’t control the game Roma did, they got the first goal of the game and sat back safe in the knowledge Leicester didn’t have the quality to break them down. It was their plan all along.

Take it you were delighted with that performance then?

We lost, someone always loses aim knockout football.

Saying all the players should never set foot in Leicester again is batshit

It’s hard enough playing Roma away in a semi final second leg without playing against the ref and the officials !!

Then we should have done more to win it at home in the first leg then shouldn't we?

Tame, timid, toothless torture. And another goal conceded at a corner.

But hey, check out those possession stats!

Football the Brendan Rodgers Way.

In what world would it make sense to have their tallest player marked by someone six inches shorter? I'd noticed that at an earlier corner so it wasn't a one off.

It carried on even after they’d scored.

It’s almost like those Roma lads with 65000 fans behind them were setup to completely frustrate us

As far as I'm concerned, that's the core of the team. We should be looking to upgrade on virtually every single other position.

Didn't say that did I?

But I wouldn't lose any sleep if that happened.

No desire, no heart, no leadership, no creativity, no fight...want me to carry on?

We'll still be here in 5, 10, 20 years, they won't.

I can never work this stuff out. We’ve got strengths and weaknesses, we’ve got a player who can bang a ball into the back of the net from 30 yards and that, at the moment is one of our strengths, are we not clever enough to play around the box looking for free kicks? It’s not that hard surely. Grealish manages it every game, why haven’t we coached a player to do the same? We’ve got one of the worst defenders in the league, yet the defense seems to be the most important area of the pitch, surely we should be keeping the ball away from the defenders as much as possible. We can’t defend corners to save our lives, yet we seem to give corners away like they’re confetti. We don’t play to our strengths yet we play to our weaknesses.

Lot of negativity here yet at least we have been consistent this season-mastering pointless possession by twaddling around at the back. Incapable of attacking the ball defensively . Clueless how tobreakdown any deep defence and too many underperforming (passenger) players

The midfield is your engine.

If your engine is misfiring, I'd doesn't matter how good your aerodynamics are, or if you have the quickest tyres etc etc.

It's time for him to go and I also wonder if it's time to cash in on madders too. Again, a player I like but how much impact is he actually having on games.

He's working hard, he's using bits of skill to look good, scores the occasional screamer too, but he's not able to take the game by the scruff of the neck and really impact it.

There's a quote in the film moneyball, talking about a player they lost for £7million that everyone looks at as a big superstar but if you look at the stats, he's only an average player when it comes to getting scores on the board. I do wonder if this is Madison.

Good analogy. I do wonder once Ndidi is back (or we use Mendy better) if having a right-hand-side equivalent of KDH would work better as a midfield three.

I see where you're coming from with Maddison, but I just think him and Fofana are the only players capable of actually making a difference in games at the moment. Fofana pushes the team forward, and Maddison makes space for others by drawing in the opposition and playing clever balls. If he had better outlets for his passes, I think tonight would be a different story.

On the night. Not good enough. Tactical masterclass from Jose. 1 up happy to sit in. We fail to break sides down, even Burnley so we were never gonna win at that point. Not gonna get too carried away.

Hotel cancelled for the final. Move on. Too all in Rome. Hope you enjoy the rest of your evening I'm very jealous.

Stay safe and have fun. Now for 1 game a week another assault on the top 6 and then we can have all saved up for another tour

Where to start!  The Referee as we all know was absolutely shocking, and i couldn`t help but think he may be getting a nice big brown envelope before he leaves Rome tonight.

If VAR are not going to give that penalty for Smalling holding onto little Wes early on, then we might as well just scrap it tomorrow morning, there is simply no point having it.

Having got that out the way, i just thought we were so disappointing, yet another goal conceded from a corner, and i`m really not sure why it was Ricardo who was assigned to mark Abraham, that was just nuts.

Our own set pieces were really poor again, and yet again for all the possession we had, we done nothing with it.

We move the ball so slowly it makes it easy to defend against.

Barnes was awful again, and really surprised Vardy stayed on who was also poor, and i would have put Daka on after an hour, he simply couldnt have been less effective that Vardy tonight.

What else is there to say,but thats the end of our very poor disappointing season, i can`t wait for it to be over now.

BR post match:

Atmosphere was great

Second half we were better

Corners our Achilles heel

We lacked physicality

We dominated the game

We had opportunities

Players responded well second half

Its been a great journey

A lot of young players finding their level

Just missed out

Have to finish season strong

Seriously, that's what he said

We we’re poor, and the referring was bad, but people in here need to get a grip.

It was a match, someone had to lose, someone had to win.

it was a tight European semi final, it was never going to be open attacking flowing play. Roma are more experienced and won it with a header.

All this ‘Rodgers and the players can fuch off’ needs to get in the bin

This is the most sensible post in about the 20 or so years I’ve been on this forum

I totally messed up todays job.

It's all the fault of my tools!

Ffs people blaming the ref for that hopeless shower of s#it is beyond pathetic.

Totally predictable (and predicted) but what do you expect playing the one in a milion Barnes ( has one good game in a million) and talent free Tielemans!

Claude Rodgers should be gone by the weekend but he won't be because he's a top manager and we're lucky to have him,all the experts say so.

Fed up with this boring crap and next season will be markedly worse so long as we have that stubborn failure in charge.

People aren't blaming the referee but you'd have to be blind not to see that he completely killed the game for us
