Watching that second half yesterday it was obvious we need more of a goal threat from the right hand side. Was impressed by this lad in the England u21s so would be all for getting him in.

There have been a well documented number of similar players lauded on here as the next best thing pre-season in the last few years. Most, when they've made it to the Premiership have been gash and we dodged a bullet. I have to be honest, when he played the one game against us I couldn't say I saw anything very special and certainly not for the price they appear to want. Sangare on the other hand looked quite impressive at times.

I have got nothing against the lad but with his huge transfer fee and massive contract he has got to deliver pretty quickly . Lookman was better last season in fact. My point is really if you are paying £30 million or so for somebody like Madueke you need to be pretty sure you are getting your money's worth.

It's very difficult, £60m is the new £30m in terms of basically being able to buy talent proven in a top league. £30m players are going to carry more risks with them than they used to.

Have you not noticed a reduction in transfer fees this summer compared to recent years silliness? I feel its dropping off a touch, there's been some real bargains, even coming to the PL.

I've not been keeping my eye on it that much to be honest. I'm sure it has post pandemic.

Just feels a bit more reasonable, but no doubt we'll still have our kegs down.

Not convinced by this at all, or our scouting anymore. 30m is paying for the player he may become, he's worth half that at most now. He's 20, gets injured a lot and if we splash out that much on him it wont take long before people turn on him and call him a flop. He may well become a proper player but realistically it's going to be a few years yet before he is pushing for a starting role in a team challenging for Europe where we hope to be. We don't have 30m and 2-4 years to invest in a player unless we are going to start moving down the table. We have some big players leaving soon and if this is the type of place we are looking at sticking our money then we need to get rid of Rodgers now or whoever is making these decisions because our transfer business since Puel left has been near the bottom of the table worthy. Puel had a great eye for players or his recruitment team did but was a terrible coach. Rodgers is a great coach but shouldn't be anywhere near a transfer. Hopefully there is no truth in this, at least not at anywhere near this price. For 15m he would be worth a punt maybe.

I think you are about right here. This is the PL and a totally different order of things. A three year contract at most and no more than 40 grand a week. If he steps up , we can improve that. We all know we have to get the finances under control.

Out for the forseeable future with a heavy ankle injury sustained in training.

"PSV attacker Noni Madueke has to fear that he will not be able to be on the field at matches during the start of the season and probably for a lot longer. Sources around the player report that he sustained an injury during PSV's training session and that it is also quite serious.

Further details are still missing and the suspicion is that Johan Bakayoko or Xavi Simons will have to replace him during the battle for the Johan Cruijff Schaal on Saturday.

According to multiple sources, it is not a muscle problem, something that Madueke (20) suffered from a handful of times last season. What is going on and how serious it is, PSV will announce later. The first sounds speak of an ankle injury. An examination on Friday and perhaps Saturday should make it clear what exactly is going on."

40 mil for this guy would have been total disaster anyway

Well at least this is not on our dime . Can’t see us getting involved anytime with Noni - we must consider fitness and injury issues if we are hitting financial headwinds

....he must be sitting back and thinking his career is going down the pan!!!

Muscle injuries kept him out for a lot of games previously, and now whatever this is, it does not sound great. He has to believe that he can battle through and get back to his best because when life keeps knocking you down, it is how you get up that defines you.
