dmayne7 Posted 11 January 2023 Posted 11 January 2023 Would be a great signing but given the current financial state, would seem crazy to spend £25m/£30m on him.
Dahnsouff Posted 11 January 2023 Posted 11 January 2023 Curious stuff, this guy seems ok, but for that money is it not the far better spent on Tsygankov? Would love to know what data they use to identify this guy, must presume there is something specific that players such as González indicate would be a success. Of course, this could be a fluff and nonsense link anyway and amount to squat.

Perhaps Viktor would not be interested? He has been linked before yet never moved, seems fishy. 1

I will take any of these. Edited 11 January 2023 by sacreblueits442 Spelling error.
MPH Posted 12 January 2023 Posted 12 January 2023 An obvious agent leak.. get a move, a bigger contract.. either of the two..
TJB-fox Posted 12 January 2023 Posted 12 January 2023 Seems a waste of fvcking money if I’m honest, so we’ll 100% sign him
Dahnsouff Posted 12 January 2023 Posted 12 January 2023 Quote Too, there’s the matter of Nico’s health. Nobody doubts his talent and nobody (except maybe Barone) doubts his dedication, but the fact is that González misses a lot of games. Part of that is his play style: sudden, violent movements to get around defenders put a player at risk of soft tissue injuries, and the kicking that he absorbs only magnifies that risk. Since the start of the 2020-2021 season, he’s missed 38 games with various injuries. As my college coach said, “Availability is the greatest ability,” and Nico’s made just 7 Serie A appearances this year and only 2 starts. Negligence
Grebfromgrebland Posted 12 January 2023 Posted 12 January 2023 We're not that attractive compared to our rivals right now which makes things harder.
mozartfox Posted 12 January 2023 Posted 12 January 2023 If we do sign him, we may attract new a sponsorship offer from CROCS?
surrifox Posted 12 January 2023 Posted 12 January 2023 We can’t get young athletic players like KDH fit to play despite a 6 week mid season break but we’re ready to spend £30 mill on a bloke who looks good for about 6 games a season . This club has seriously lost the plot 4

We cannot afford to be paying that for a player who clearly has real issues with staying fit. It would be farcical .
Beechey Posted 12 January 2023 Posted 12 January 2023 (edited) He's missed 33 club games in all competitions through injury (not COVID or suspensions) over the course of the previous 6 seasons (since 2016/17) out of potential ~240 appearances. That works out at around a 14% injury rate per year on average. We have players here who have a far, far worse record than that. We have players that may well miss that many games per season, not over the course of 6. That record is not awful. Recently he's been out with a muscle injury, which is the first of the kind he's had. Looks like the club tried to bring him back early, he played for half a game and then was injured again. Last season he was fit all year, so it's clearly not a recurring issue. 2020/21 and this season are his only real bad seasons for injuries. 2020/21 was a muscle tear, which can happen to literally anyone. This season he's had a knee injury, which kept him out of the WC. Edited 12 January 2023 by Beechey 3
