It's one thing being able to attract better players, managers and coaches and another thing entirely us choosing the best.

Good point, although we could also attract the best recruitment consultants to make those decisions.

Or they could take more notice of FT polls and base decisions on that. Imagine if a club actually did that....

Like if Newcastle were reportedly in for Maddison, solely because Maddison's social media posts got the most likes of all the linked players over the transfer window.

Vice versa, hopefully?

Agreed.
I voted for first place but I have always been an optimist

Don't know who our manager will be, don't know who our coaching staff will be, don't know who the majority of our squad will be and don't know what style of football we will be playing... There isn't any way of giving an informed opinion.

Yeah but I voted top anyway cos we're massive.

And I've had a beer.

It's difficult to work out until the new manager is named... if its Gerrard or Lampard it'll be a dull midtable finish. Deano likely the play offs, Potter champions, Rowett play offs,  Bruce possible relegation...

Only Potter will do

We’ll be bottom by 8 points at Christmas but buy a world beating striker in January and sneak into the play offs . We’ll win the final on a shoot out and start preparing for the premiership.
just as the fixtures are issued for 24/25 an eagle eyed clerk in the football league spots that Rudkin had mishandled the paperwork on our new striker so our points are deducted and Nigel takes Bristol City up instead ( just a hunch)

Depends whether the club goes balls out for a big spend on new players and a big manager plus backup team. It’s a game of chance.

Personally I think we’ll be terribly inconsistent, get off to a poor start, recover to Christmas and slide back in the second half. 12th for me and a major let down

No offence but what’s the point of this thread?

Lets see who we get as manager and if we have a squad of players first!?

In the current state mediocre at best. If we get cracking we may mount a challenge but we are going through the usual Rudkin bullshit, he will probably wait till deadline day, miss out targets and the get a wank panic buy in.

At this stage there's no confidence the idiots that got us into this mess will have any Hope of getting us out. Such gross incompetence normal leads to heads rolling.

Too much up in the air to say. I think we only need a half-decent manager (Smith even) and probably 6 reasonable reasonable, not even great, signings to go back up. It’s eminently doable so that’s why I’m not confident

We've no manager, and no idea how many players we have at the moment will still be at the club nor who we will sign.

I mean I'm sorry to be rude but this is a completely pointless poll!

Fair enough, but surely the poll results reflect our best guesses as to the outcomes of the things you list, which in turn depends on the confidence members have in the club to get things right. It will be interesting to see how this develops through the season and whether current pessimism or optimism is borne out.

Squad wise are we in a much difficult situation than in 2004. When we got relegated back then we seem to manage to keep most of our players. Only Paul Dickov, Les Ferdinand and Muzzy Izzett left the club.
