mod hero Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 Sound bloke I think but some of his team selections were very questionable. We We’re getting carved open like Turkey on thanks giving routinely and he had us conceding at a rate of -2 a game. Daka left wing 🤦🏻♂️
Unabomber Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 Should’ve come in earlier and we would’ve stayed up. 2
Old Fox Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 No thanks here he got paid for his work and although he inherited a pile of crap - he made too many mistakes imo and failed ultimately. he conducted himself well but he lost me when he said he didn’t know which players were contracted or not - first thing I would have done is dump those that were not committed and stuck them in the reserves - sadly we were too nice and it cost us !

SK3Blue Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 Crucially those 2 games when Stowell and Sadler took charge, I think Smith would have got something from those. He was available so there's no excuse from Rudkin and Co. I do hope he gets work somewhere as he's clearly got something to offer perhaps in the Championship or League 1. All the best Deano and thank you for your efforts with the sack of sh1t you had to work with. 2

I think Smith did the best he could. Top and Rudkin are fully to blame for not ditching Phlegmdan earlier Pity that he didn't figure how to keep us up until Newcastle away. We shouldve been ultra cautious at Fulham (I said it at the time) and could well have sneaked a win. We shouldve had a default play book when Liverpool took the lead to kill the game for 15 mins. We shouldve played Souttar v Everton Basic basic stuff. 1
HybridFox Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 An impossible job really. One more game might have done it. At least he tried unlike Brendan 2
splinterdream Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 Had to turn an oil tanker around in a cul-de-sac, nearly achieved it, I thought tielemens and Ndidi let him down, the game against newcastle was masterclass, so close to the 3 points, I don't think without a crystal ball he could have done any better, I said we should we should start 5 at the back and looking at Newcastle I think I was right, but easy to say in your armchair
Stadt Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 It was a salvageable situation when he took over, can’t attach too much blame to Smith but his management wasn’t good enough. We were far too open against Everton because of the team selection. 2

sm1 Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 Picked some really strange looking teams, but in the end he was only a penalty miss away from keeping us up. Considering the losing run we were on when he came in, he didnt do too badly. If he had those 2 extra games we wasted on Stowell and Sadler, I've got no doubt he would've kept us up. He'll definitely get another chance at championship level.
Ted Maul Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 Didn't get us over the line but I think you'd be hard-pressed to find a Leicester fan who primarily blames him. Season was a shit-show from start to finish.

mozartfox Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 He will end up at Celtic once they bin off Fraudio with 8 games to go including some tough games against the ‘Dog and Kilt’ and ‘Abercrombie Working Man’s’ Club’.

Seemed a genuinely nice bloke which was refreshing after years of slime from Rodgers. All the best, Deano. Tomek Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 What exactly are we thanking him for? Yes, he came into a difficult situation, but keeping us up was not an impossible task. We failed to beat either Leeds or Everton, shipped 5 at Fulham, and some of the decisions making was questionable at best. he was incredibly lucky to get the job in the first place and no doubt got a big pay cheque for taking us down (I know he’s not the main culprit for our relegation).

Tuna Posted 16 June 2023 Posted 16 June 2023 Came in, did a job, almost kept us up, had he been appointed just a week or two earlier he would have been successful and been lauded. 1
