Man Utd have had a model over the last few seasons of signing on a more "mature" player to play regularly with their U23s and use their experience to develop the younger players - Paul McShane and Tom Huddlestone have done it...could suit Evans with his injury record over the last couple of years - play a less intense level and a route into coaching?

Soyuncu for one was always better when playing with Evans

Maybe we should do it with Liam Moore

He’s not our player and hasn’t been since 30 June.

He was the captain and we offered him a new deal so we thought enough to attempt to keep him.

Bet he'll make a stunning recovery like Lazarus from the grave to play for them. Reminiscent of suddenly being fit for his national side before being injured again. Spooky eh?

Heard lots of stories about Evans being an absolute hypochondriac. Any little niggle and he'll instantly declare himself unfit. Better off without that kind of liability now.

Literally one of his old managers said he had to trick Evans into playing him by telling him he wouldn't be in the squad all week!

Thought he was an excellent player for us for a couple of years. Classy player. Very surprised at some of the negative posts I've seen on social media about his stay here.

When the going got tough.. He hid!!..

Classy perhaps, when it suited him.

Great bit where it states “The club are said to have been eager to build a culture where former players have felt welcomed back.”

"As part of the Academy training programme, he has also taken part in a number of first-team sessions and impressed Erik ten Hag and the coaching staff.

"Jonny will then join up with the Academy group that will travel to San Diego, while the first-team squad are in New York.

So Johnny gets to play with the Kids rather than the first team !😉

He isn't captain material. But when he played this season (e.g United at home where he was most responsible for keeping the score down) I thought he looked comfortably our best defender.

We ended 21/22 season well thanks in a large part to Evans and Fofana at the back. You can question their commitment to the cause obviously but they were head and shoulders above our absolute clown show of centre back pairings this season.

Another lazy **** gone!

Good riddance.

Club caption!!!. What a joke!

Instrumental in getting us relegated because he wasnt interested in fighting for the club.

Hopefully Castagne not far behind him in pissing off! 🤬

Not sure if his spine went before his legs.  Loyalty was to NI and BR before the club that paid him.

Zero leadership from a senior player.

What annoyed me more is we have Wes working as an ambassador doing guided tours and Huth making sure the loan players have their lunches packed and rent paid when they could’ve been called upon to fix the obvious issues.

Castagne, Ward and Soumare next please,

Probably need him to drive the taxi

Gotta be our worst ever captain, always injured and presided over relegation. His comments after West Ham were ludicrous. Genuinely horrified we offered him new terms.

I don’t know @Tuna

I think one of these two would be in with a shout.
