I’d like him to address his ball speed when he’s playing a twenty yard pass

needs to strike it more crisply - then if an opponent does manage to intercept its more difficult for them to get it under control

of course that means our players have to improve their first touch aswell

Mads got himself very Kasper like in the WBA game. Good shot stopping but punted straight out to touch or an opposing player on several occasions with the added Kasper like of being stuck to the goal line for crosses and corners,

Trying to copy Kasper to get into Denmark team ready for Euros.

I'd love him to stay for a long long time. Could be another 400/500 appearance player as long as we get promoted straight back.

I think a certain club about to play spurs will have their eyes on him.

He's good but I don't think he's going to be top 4 or 5 keepers in the world which is the level they pick from.

We forget he's 23, keepers usually develop much later along.

I miss his 70 yard balls to Mavididi and Fatawu earlier in the season after we'd enticed the other team onto us.

You don't want to see endless hoofing because that's the god awful stuff we had to endure under Shakey when he got the gig full time.

Equally I don't want to watch my goalkeeper and defenders walking with the ball for 30 odd minutes a game, gifting random chances to the opposition in the process.

I do wish the managers could agree to sack off the first 70 minutes and just play the last 20 cus they're generally the 20 that are worth watching haha.

Football Manager calls this style “Mixed Passing”.

Got a dirty Leeds fan in the office (obviously not from Leeds or have any connection with the city) but keeps a keen eye on us as rivals.

First thing he said to me on Monday was how dodgy our keeper is. I rate Mads but some of his distribution has been reckless in recent matches with WBA being a good example. He got away with it again but it's really going to cost us big time unless he tightens it up. I appreciate that style will give the very occasional goal away but he's providing too many chances to tip the odds to make it worthwhile. Enzo's coaches will be working on it so hoping for some improvement.

I'm struggling to get on board with the mass hype.

I've seen him put us in the sh1t just as much as I've seen him get us out of it. Absolute suicide passes to our back 4 at times.

But yeah, admittedly he's still young and there's likely scope for a lot of improvement.

Hard disagree. Firstly, Hermansen's passing has lead to ZERO goals conceded in 18 matches, so on that basic measure it's not a problem.

  • Hermansen is being instructed to make 'risky' line breaker/vertical passes into midfield, to find (primarily) Winks/Ricardo. He try far more short passes that most keepers in the division and try more high risk passes than most, so even with his high % success rate, his mistakes are likely to look worse, simply because he tries it more often and when he does it's higher risk.
  • It is worth the tradeoff because 1) as above we haven't even conceded a goal from it and 2) even when we do, so what? We get far more benefit from his positional play, comfort with the ball at feet and passes into defence and midfield than we do from him 'playing it safe'
  • He (along with Vestergaard) is key to us beating the press and he allows us to play 4 at the back when in possession, even with Ricardo pushed up alongside Winks. He helps us create another area of domination/overloads
  • I think his match changing saves have gone under the radar simply because we've won so many matches, but to say 'he's put us in trouble as much as get us out of it' is just plainly, demonstrably false
  • I think most fans who have seen us play this season would struggle to describe him as "dodgy". His keeping has been fine. I can't remember a single flap, fumble or dodgy moment. Some key/great saves here and there. With the ball at feet, he's so comfortable he's foundational to how we play, as discussed above.

Blackburn.

There are quite a few others we have got away with thanks to the poor quality of strikers in the league.

Anyway, don't mistake this for me thinking hes not a good keeper, i rate him, but i still think he has a lot of developing to do and i still don't trust him with the ball very much at all.

i can’t help but feel this kicking thing will go out of fashion when a statistician finally works out that more goals end up conceded from this than gets created.

I just feel that 75% of what keepers try to do in these roles is pointless.

It was telling that the watford captain said they had a game plan to target the keeper… which is mad when you have one as good as mads. But it looks very obvious to me that there will be chances because of what he’s instructed to do.

Being good with your feet is always a big asset but that doesn’t mean you need to take extra risks.

Mads is only young and still learning but as a ball playing goalkeeper, you won't find a better one outside the prem. Even the best like Allison and Ederson make mistakes. I feel that Winks, Riccy and Vestergaard are suited to the style but the others aren't, which sometimes doesn't help Mads as some of the players don't get into the right positions to recieve the ball.

I think it’s more of a lack of movement in the midfield than it is Mads misplacing passes. He looks to punch the pass into the midfield, but to beat the forward press. Winks so far is the only player who reacts properly, but he can’t do it all of the time.

It’s more an issue with Ricardo, but it’s not really his fault as he isn’t a midfielder. WBA, Mads fizzed a pass into the midfield, and it ended up being intercepted, Winks berated his fellow midfielders because the pass was perfect, but the movement was poor. I’d argue he is far too good for this level, I’m frankly astounded we’ve managed to get him, regardless of what happens to us this season, in the summer one of the PL big boys will come in for him. We’re still very much a work in progress, and this includes Mads.

Congratulations,  but it changes nothing.

Unless, of course, your suggesting we take your opinion with higher regard than other people's on this forum.

OK one goal then. My argument is in shambles.../s

He's literally the best ball playing goalkeeper in the club's history. I wonder what it would take for you to trust him lol

there are going to be mistakes playing like this after just 5/6 months. Give the lad a break and it wasn't always his fault. See the amount of mistakes Pep's City made when the keeper first started doing what Mads does.
