Lovely result, Sheffield United going up would have been boring. 


Sunderland fans deserve a bit of happiness after their shitty period a few years back.

Always had a like for Sunderland. I like the north east people, and won't forget how they clapped us off the pitch on our way to the PL title. Their fans have had to go through some utter shit in the last 8 years too so I'm happy for them. And it's a long away game gone now too 🤣

 

 Think the league is harder with Sheffield U in it.

I'd have preferred Sheffield Utd promoted just as I think that would make our job next year a tad easier, but if you remove that aspect I think this is a great result.

 

Wow they've got a busy summer ahead though. Sheff Utd are miles off a team that stays up and yet looked fairly dominant in that final.

Well done Sunderland, nice to see a "new" team in the premier league for once. Can't see them staying up, but expect they'll be looking forward to their Tyne/Wear derby!

Congratulations, Sunderland! Wonder how they'll fare in the Premier League next season, squad's rather inexperienced and lightweight.

 

The Blades had it in their own hands to win this, and failed. That's football.

 

Looking forward to that Tyne and Wear derby.

Atleast Sunderland  might make more of a fight than Sheff u of staying up.

Well I said Sunderland had their Deeney play-off moment in the semi final but clearly that tops it all off for them.

 

Got back into the game and took advantage of poor Sheffield United play with 2 well taken goals. 

 

Congratulations to them - nice to see a different team get promoted and gives hope to others.

I’m not sure. In recent years we seem to have slapped Sheffield United around. Sunderland are an unknown so I might not have fancied our chances against them as much.

Also retains the Sheffield derby in the Championship! Even though those games are often dull.

We went into what looked like a real rough pub  prior to the game that day. To a man the pub came up to us at the bar and wished us well, hoping we’d beat them and go on to win the league, despite them being in a relegation battle of their own.

 

Great fans, great club. Hope they stay up.
