I think maybe we shouldn't get too carried away with today. He had a good 45. But we were 3-0 up and they stopped pressing. I wish we'd seen that sort of performance in midfield from him before.

If you knew he was starting at CB any half decent manager would be able to put a big/physical forward on him. It's not like his defensive colleagues are going to be much help. He's short, slow and even in midfield he's never been a great tackler.

But I'd start him over Winks and Soumare in midfield. And tbf, if it's him or Faes we have nothing to lose with using him instead.

Full credit to Skipp for his performances in defence in the last 2 games.

I wonder if he has a future as a right back if we have other midfield options.

I remember Andy Feeley from way back doing an admirable job after a similar position swap.

He's a tryer and just gets on with it. His ability isnt all there, but his work ethic is.

Fair play today to play CB and didn't do too bad. Just the price tag has ruined him. If we got him for £10m or under, he wouldn't be able issue.

I would argue in this last appearances he has shown the ability.  Through balls in the Stoke game led to goals and to come on at CB and outplay all our other CB's and look progressive in the 2nd yesterday shows he has the abilty.

The issue is, we will likely start him against Derby and he will be dog turd. He is very, very inconsistent.

I agree, but that last bit can be said for 3/4 of our team. That is one of a long list of issues.

Shit player but he’s an excellent pro which makes him more of an asset than 18 or 19 of our players.

That'd my take!

Its not his fault we paid 5 times he worth.

While he did well at CB it was in a period of the game where Sheff Utd barely came forward and he was able to step into midfield quite a lot.

Which weirdly also meant we saw much more of his passing ability. Not as good as Winks in that regard but offers way more defensively which is needed at the moment so I'd want to see him playing as the deepest one protecting the back 4, popping it off to more creative players.

Plus we have a pretty good points return when he plays.

I know he cost too much, which isn't his fault.  I know he isn't particularly brilliant.  But dammit, he's a lot more likeable than certain players (Winks and Faes, for example) because he gets his head down and tries.  He knows he isn't liked but he still puts the effort in and doesn't throw his toys out.  He has ended up, accidentally, being seen as one of our most professional players and I wouldn't be shocked if by the end of the season he's become a cult favourite.

He strikes me as the sort to put his hand up and say "I'll do that job" when asked - like playing LB and CB the last couple of games.  You imagine some of our other idiots doing that?

The post about Kisnorbo up above is bang on - was thinking that at the game on Saturday!

There’s a host of players I’m actually sick of seeing play for us (Vesty, Faes, Winks, VK mainly) and Skipp isn’t one of them. Club need to quickly realise with the points deduction impending we’re in a relegation fight and for this reason we need to start selecting based on attitude not aptitude. On this basis I’d happily see Skipp start and see what he can do alongside James with a run of games.

You look at the squad and Skipp clearly wants to play football, which is a lot more than can be said for most of the others.

CB may be a stretch but he can clearly displace Winks as the deep lying playmaker with those clipped balls forward and wining the ball back.

Winks cannot tackle and he’s weak as piss

Crazy that we're in a situation where Skipp is winning fans over despite everyone agreeing he's, at best, a bit naff

Remember Hamza is still at the club and is our vice captain so it’s anything goes😂

Fans want to see a player putting in a shift. Skipp hasn't pulled up any trees, but I would rather see someone like him on the pitch than the Fancy-Dan Winks.

Similar to Daka in a sense where fans need to distinguish the difference between those that aren't the best and still putting effort in and giving a toss... and those that are tossing it off. Because sadly we're at that point.
