I never warmed to him, I couldn’t care less about the Forest connection more so that he was an excuse maker in all his interviews.

I watched his pre season playing players out of position and freezing some out, lack of tactics and improvement with the players which then rolled into the season.

I can’t believe that the people who scouted the potential of Bilal thought buying Ayew, Skipp and offering anything more than a 1 year deal for Reid was a good idea.

They didn't. Bilal was a recommendation from Leuven supposedly.

Saw an interview with Craig Bellamy - not trying to say he is a good manager or anything, but..

He has set some non-negotionables and it was things like, no shirt swapping, its our badge we've worked hard for. Club badge doesn't touch the floor, all kit is handed to the kit man, dinner at round tables, no phones etc.

Quite liked those sort of principles he is embedding, right now it seems we have absolutely nothing instilled at all.

Hands off.

Bloke from Telegraph in Amsterdam right now on Talksport. ****in hell. Seemed to know Ruud on a personal level.

"He was willing to lead Leicester in the Championship a few weeks ago but things have changed"

"I'm told even his manager (Jon Rudkin) ISNT IN THE LOOP and is just waiting for a thumb up or thumb down"

Seriously wtf have we become as a club. Top has destroyed us.

Take a bit of a different view on that…

Maybe Rudkin has no idea what’s going on anymore as Top has finally had enough of him.

'waiting'.

Seems to be Top's best attribute.

This is exactly why our operating model doesn't work.

A modern head coach has enough on his plate being able to come up with a tactical plan and drill it, coach it in to the players. They don't want or need the distraction of being responsible for also building a squad. We don't want to be looking for any "manager", we want to be looking separately for a head coach and a sporting director / director of football.

It's not just a problem of over burdening one person or being over reliant on one person it's also about the fact we're increasingly chasing unicorns.

If you want someone to be brilliant at recruitment, brilliant at squad management, brilliant at tactics, brilliant at coaching, that person doesn't exist anymore. Arguably, it never did, even greats like SAF didn't actually do all that, they knew how to delegate.

If we keep insisting on not having a proper director of football then every time we recruit we're going to find it harder and harder to find the right person because the current generation coming through aren't "managers" at all, they are ALL head coaches and they all really expect a squad to be there readily assembled for them. They just don't have the skill set we're looking for because we're stuck in the past. It'll get harder and harder every year.

Although he was much maligned during his time here as manager (too much so IMO), then what you said about Puel earlier was pretty spot on, we need somebody of his stature and 'recruitment understanding' behind the scenes working for a new manager rather than a reckless manager like Rodgers who you referenced, who just went after poor players thinking he could make misfits and shit shine! Vestergaard and Bertrand (who we famously put nine past of course two seasons earlier!), are two shining examples of his legacy, not to mention Faes, Daka, Soumare and Kristiansen - who starred in inferior foreign league teams whilst playing a different style! I was even hopeful we could land Thomas Frank here as manager when Rodgers was under threat of the sack, who you aso referenced strongly. He hasn't done badly has he?!

We had a lot of success under Rodgers doing it his way.

You could argue, it was exactly when Top and Rudkin started taking back some control from Rodgers, that things dramatically fell apart, in regards to the transfer market at least.

I’m not a fan of Rodgers though and can see his part in the downfall too.

I still feel we need a new direction and leader, and the likeliest way we can do that, is through a control freak Manager that has enough experience and confidence, for Top and Rudkin to take a back seat.

I think in normal situations the DOF is in charge of everything football related with input from the manager. However, with Rudkin seemingly here forever you raise a fair point about manager taking control. Emery does at villa

Theres no doubt RVN is the worst manager in our HISTORY but all these arm chair Premier league fans who think they know our situation and we got what we deserved for sacking Steve Cooper because he had us just outside the relegation zone. Absolute rubbish. I can’t stand the guy purely based on the recruitment alone. 70 million wasted

Can I ask a question, does RVN have a clause to be removed if we get relegated?

Doubtful - in truth no one on this forum knows.

I do have the feeling that it's imminent. The interview last night definitely had 'clearing my desk' vibes.

Our fanbase is awful. Probably the same people that clap the team off after we get battered. On TV it showed Vardy walking round and clapping, were fans genuinely there clapping still?

FFS they were clapping the fact that he didn’t celebrate not that he scored!

Very surprised that nothing has happened yet. I was very sure we'd get a 10 am press release.

That would have given RVN and the club about 1 hour to come to an agreement and then prepare a public statement...
