Absolutely!

Yes there is a big drop off between Hutchinson & McAteer. But they do have Philogene on the left who I think will be his more direct replacement.

McAteer would probably slot in on the right, where their best option atm is Clarke, who is a bit wasteful.

My main worry about this is that Ipswich seem to do very good things with not very much. If we sell him to them it could end up biting us on the arse...

You could be right mate, they are very effective under McKenna. I think a lot is owed to the fact that McKenna likes to use all subs in an effort to keep maximum intensity throughout a game. They grind teams down and score so many late goals due to having fresh forwards that can come on and take on fatigued defences. You would expect Kasey to be one of these impact subs.

I'd be feeling a lot more confident if I thought that we had the ability to replace the outgoing players with better players.

I’ve always wanted Kasey to succeed, he’s an honest, hard-working and humble player in a squad full of utterly unlikable characters. And unlike most of his teammates, he showed he cares about the club.

That said, I also really hoped he would have used this offseason to work on his ability to beat defenders on the dribble — that is going to hold him back if he continues to play on the wing.

I don’t understand why we haven’t tried him as a number 9 with Ayew and Daka being our current options.

Still, I would not turn down a decent offer and I’d gladly accept the fee while wishing him well.

Interesting one for me. A good but not a great player for us, but a brilliant character.

That said he is an academy player so any sale would generate 100% profit and is an easiest way to improve the accounts.

We need to start making the academy profitable again selling the youngsters we aren’t intending to keep and generate a clear pathway for their development at the same time.

We have been loosely linked with two wingers in this window, Tounekti(Hammarby) and Afolayan(St Pauli), their numbers might not whet the appetite, but both are very adept in 1 vs 1 situations, while McAteer in that regard is weak.

If McAteer left and one of those two came in, it would be a very understandable transfer.

Have people really saw one goal in a pre season game and decided he would make a good striker? 🤣 Hes scored 7 goals in his entire career

Daka it is then

If they offer £5m+ this would be an amazing deal. Could easily take a punt on a lower league wide player for half that or from one of the cheaper leagues in Europe, and would almost certainly not be any worse.

Sell. They aren't a promotion rival (we aren't going up) and we might've just had a second bite here at getting a fee for him. He's never been much good. Maresca duped people.

I can't accuse him of being a shirker like I can most of them but that alone isn't enough to not sell an overpriced player. Was absolutely preposterous we didn't make it happen in January so no doubt we get this wrong again.

Absolutely staggering that less than 5 years ago we were finishing top 6 in the top flight, and won a domestic trophy, while Ipswich weren't even finishing top 6 of the third tier.

Now we're both in the second tier and we don't even consider ourselves as promotion rivals to them.

There are so many players out there for a few million that could smash the championship but from recent transfer business we seem to have no intent to do anything which is soul destroying

He’s a solid championship player at best, but will never be direct enough to play on the wing, or technically efficient enough to play in the middle at a high level.

I’d happily sell for the right price, not quite sure what that is, maybe around £8m.

Sell the local guys, keep the mercenaries who hate the club, got it. And if he was as bad as you suggest, the favourites for the league wouldn't want to sign him.

We seem to have given up on being a successful football team, so the next best thing is to have a team of people who care. As it stands, we'll have neither.

Personally I don’t see what people see in him at all.

he isn’t a winger, no real pace, no ability to beat a man.

would be a good sale for me.

I completely disagree with the recruitment approach but I can sort of understand the thinking in not wanting to take a punt with the replacement when selling a more established player (wish we would).  But in this sort of case it's an absolute no brainer, so all the more reason for them not to do it.
