I know we have a sub forum for transfer, however this is a more in general discussion.

Our squad is a mess.

Too many high earners.

Too many that would rather be elsewhere.

Too many in cruise control.

Too many not good enough.

Too many bits and pieces players.

Too many lightweight players.

Too many that won’t fight for the cause.

Too many that at the of their contract.

We have seven first team players expiring at the end of June.

Begovik, Ayew, Ricardo, Winks, Daka, Soumare and Marcal. You’d find it hard to justify keeping any of them in our current situation. Even more so that them leaving potentially removes something like £13m a year from the wage bill.

We can all read between the lines the lines and the PR machine that is constantly pushed, the academy is the future. Our crop of players that we will rely on, just isn’t ready “yet”.

The reality is, at this point the manager, whoever that may be, will be in a real stick or twist moment some January.

If we receive any form of offer, which we will, surely we’ve got to start letting some of these players go, even if we are within touching distance of a return to the Premier League?

Plus, let’s not make the same mistake we did with Lookman. Please can we sign James.

On the subject of transfer windows, I’d love to know what was discussed in the summer Enzo left. We’d have been better off on the pitch and financially if we had just kept the same squad that got us promoted (though obviously replacing KDH). But in true Rudkin-KP style we got lumbered with yet more deadwood on the wrong side of 30.

Turn JJ deal permanent now (creating another loan spot)

Can have as many loans as you like really, just can't have any more than 5 in a matchday squad.

The only restriction of "2" is that you can only have 2 over 23. We currently have one of those.... allegedly...

Also can't have more than 4 from the same club but no chance of that happening.

Outgoings only please. Don't want these frauds spending another penny

Agreed. Maybe sign a striker on loan & thats it.

Replace any outgoings with academy players for now. Eg:

Aluko > Kristensen

Page > Soumare

Evans > Ayew

Also, Jayden Joseph & Braybrooke’s loans expire in January. I’d seriously consider keeping them in the squad because Braybrooke is probably an upgrade on Skipp and Joseph has pace which we’re seriously lacking & can cover RB/LB/RW.

Stolarczyk

Ricardo, Okoli, Nelson, Aluko

James, Winks

Fatawu, Reid, Mavididi

New ST

Subs: Begovic, JJ, Vestergaard, Choudhury, Braybrooke, Page, Monga, Evans, Daka

Faes will try to force a move in January I think, even if only on loan. He's out of the team again and will want to get back in the Belgium squad before the World Cup. Souttar should be back by then so that's a straightforward like for like replacement.

I will not be holding my breath for anything except that familiar feeling of time slipping by with no activity and a couple of damp squibs towards the end.

It should start in the summer. In our financial position we should be signing two types of player for me.

1. Young players in the Jordan James mould, talented young players that we can pick up cheap, obviously they'll be a gamble at the prices we'll be looking at. We should be looking to bring in players that can improve with us and either get us promoted or be sold on for profit.

2. Experienced players with a good mentality that are happy to come in on short term contracts and won't be wanting the world in salary.

Both of these types of player will bring their own benefits and more importantly,  we will be able to bring down our ludicrous wage budget. First thing we need to do if fix the wage budget and give ourselves much more maneuverability.

Essentially going down the route that helped build our success under Pearson.

That't not an inspiring bunch of expiring contracts for reclaiming any money in January.

Begovic is needed, Ayew and Ricardo have pretty much no value (age/injury) and teams would look to pick up on a free. Winks maybe but I imagine he might fancy being a free agent in the Summer. Daka's value declines with every minute he doesn't score in the championship and Marcal hasn't really done much for clubs to take a look at. Of that crop, Soumare somehow is the only one I can see a spanish/french club giving us a small fee for. Any rebuilding will likely have to wait until the Summer.

Been saying this for the last 5 transfer windows. It will be more of the same, sell before we can buy, our "senior pros" can't get out the door because people won't match Rudkin's valuation and won't match the players' wages.

Just have to hope they snag 2/3 lucky signings like Fatawu, El Khannouss or James.

I for one will be happy when we finally get rid of the stench of Rodgers. Not even arsed about getting promoted (highly unlikely given the points deduction we'll likely get), I just want us to have some players who are getting paid wages that match their ability and will actually fight and show some pride and passion for the club.

Other than the youngsters, every player should be available for transfer at the right price, even Fatawu.

The sooner we sort the finances and wage bill, the sooner we can stop the efl and PL from constantly hounding us and begin to rebuild the club. What that actually looks like, with the clowns that crrently run the club, is anybodys guess.
